....people don't usually post on forums to say "booked flight with xxx and had great service"....

    Some here https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g293915-i3686-k7508732-Trailfinders-Thailand.html#59679170

There are some airline reviews here http://www.airlinequality.com/airline-reviews/norwegian/

Thanks, will take a look at that too.

I've diverted myself from my original post though. Let's assume I have purchased tickets through one of these shonky ticket companies ;-) using a Credit Card. Booking page says 2 pieces of baggage included. Nothing in T&Cs to counter this. I find out later, either when the eTicket arrives or even at the check-in that the bags aren't included.
Do I have any comeback against the booking company? Or claim against the Credit Card company?

I'd rather assume you haven't purchased tickets from one of the shonky 3rd party websites.

If you are thinking of doing so and if it does go t**s up at the airport you can claim from the 3rd party website or your c/c company why would you want to knowingly put yourself in that position?

Because this is MoneySavingExpert.com, not time-grief-and-aggrevation-saving.com.
For £10 a flight saving I wouldn't take the risk, but for £200 I'm interested to know what my rights are *if* it goes wrong.
If it turns out I don't have a leg to stand on legally then it's not worth £200. That's assuming it even goes wrong in the first place, I just need to weight up the risk of it going wrong against the potential gain.
If the worst that happens is I have to pay another £200 at the airport then I'm no worse off (other than the hassle), especially if my Credit Card protects me. If the worst that happens is that my booking doesn't actually exist, well then that's not a risk I want to take.

Just trying to work out the risk and reward really.

Thanks everyone for their input, it's appreciated.

Ultimately, I don't trust Opodo, edreams, travelltogate trolley or any of the other dodgy online TA's to actually issue a ticket, so I'd get a 'no sorry, you're not on the flight' at the check in desk.

The risk isn't £200, it's the full amount including the £200, and not being on the flight, completely not worth risking it at all.

    AVOID!!!!

Section 75 won't apply as you'll have booked via a third party.

    Great answer, thanks.

    OK, another option then:
Omega Flight Store is another provider that comes up on the list from Kayak and all the others, has hit-and-miss reviews (like many others) but, crucially, has an actual store not far from me.
Is this risk lessened by booking in person, in store?

Every body is saying book with the airline!!!!
There is no point arguing at the check in as they will simply refuse to accept you and if you kick off the men with guns will come and leave you in a little room for 24 hours.
You will then go home/no holiday/a load of grief to try and get your money back from some shyster outfit.
If £200 pound is a deal breaker then DO NOT GO ON HOLIDAY!!!
  • I never said £200 was a deal-breaker, but this is moneysavingexpert.com. As above, just trying to assess the risk of booking via screenscrapers and 3rd-parties as suggested in the main article.

Yes, it is money saving expert.com.
It isn't (or shouldn't be after the warnings you've had) stupid.com either.

If you do go ahead & book with a 3rd party & it all goes wrong, please do post about your experience on Tripadvisor.

    I'll supply the popcorn.:rotfl:
