I found that on my old computer, the WiFi driver has a habit of switching itself off and not switching on again. In my case, the fix was as follows, so you may want to give it a go:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager
- Look down the list of devices for Network or Network adaptors
- Right click the one which looks like it might be a Wireless one, and go into Properties
- If there is a box labelled 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power', then untick the box (assuming it's ticked)
- Press OK to come out of that
- Save all files you might have open and close down all applications on the PC
- Right click the Start button again and select 'Run'
- Type this command and press Enter (which will shutdown the computer):
shutdown /s /t 0
- Switch the computer on again and hope it works!
Edit: just noticed this in your first post:
Does Wifi work on your phone yet? If not then it's probably not the fault of Windows 10 on your computer.AliceBanned wrote: »I don't think wifi works on my phone at mo either.0 -
Thanks Jivesinger!
I've done as you suggested and it works now!
The wifi icon is there too (I had forgotten where it should show up so if the internet goes again it is the first thing I will check).
Thanks so much!

PS I got the wifi working on my phone on Friday or Saturday - for that reason as part of the troubleshooting. For a while that was off as well so I think there must have been a combination of a problem from the provider last week, and then my PC.0

Ps it just switched itself off again so no wifi. I had used the wireless dpeaker just before. I think that triggered it but not certain. I hope I don't have to keep repeating these steps. With a new machine I wanted to avoid too much hassle!0

go back to the device manager, and uninstall the wifi card (right-click on the card, select uninstall) If given the option, DO NOT delete the driver. Restart the lappy and let the card be detected and re-installed. You may have to reconnect to your router (i.e. password) once done.
W10 and drivers is a total PITA ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Thanks Gun Jack. I am not sure I have the username. I don't really want to risk having to phone EE again at the mo so will leave for a few days I think. Incidentally I have just unticked the box in the wifi that was mentioned above - previously I had only unticked the box in the router. If that makes sense? I will keep an eye on it and try again when I have got over the stress of previous troubleshooting/wrangles with EE!0

It's still working btw. So hopefully I don't need to do anything else.
