    I've never seen one.
A simple google search risk of linking bank account to paypal

I think most posters on that thread were quite accustomed to having multiple accounts but they thought that the vague question and lack of any explanation for it was what was strange.

    vague question?

Q: Is it bad to have multiple bank accounts?
    A: No, most people have.

The majority of those links are just forum posts and there are no articles from any major news outlets about the dangers of linking your bank account to PayPal....

But if your sensible and have Two Factor Authentication enabled on your PayPal account then even if someone has your password they cant get into your account. So the risk of loosing any money is very low!

What is the difference? The card is linked to the same bank account.

Is there a standard bank account, which doesn't have a debit card attached?

It seems you don't understand the difference between a credit card and a debit card? I recently applied for and received two new credit cards, neither are linked to bank accounts.

I know the difference, but thought that CC is much worse than DC. The liability of DC is the money you have, but that of CC is your credit (the money that you don't even have, and may damage your credit score.

Why would you want a hacker/fraudster/phisher to take money from a bank account instead of your CC? Although you're protected in most cases, I'd much rather it happened with a CC for the simple reason that it's not me that's out of pocket in the first instance.

I'll never link a bank/debit card to paypal for the simple reason that I do use paypal a fair bit and my cashback CC allows me to pay a month or so later and I get 0.5% back.

Which bank pays 0.5% cachback on purchases via paypal?

I could find nearly anything by googling it. What I was saying was that I have never seen an article, eg on the news or on MSE, suggesting there was a risk of any kind. Please clarify what kind of risk you were suggesting there could be.

All the risks in the links given by the google search?
Just because you've never heard of them doesn't mean they don't exist. But importantly it does mean that the probability of any of the risks occurring is so small as to not raise itself into the media's conciousness, i.e. not worth worrying about!

His PayPal account definitely wasn't hacked!. He must have given out his password through a phising attempt or had a virus on the computer he was using. If PayPal accounts really could be hacked then it would be all over the news and everyone would be loosing money!.

My account was hacked several years ago. I definitely didn't give out my details via a phishing attempt. It was actually hacked, by someone who lived in Stoke Newington no less, as they had added their name and address as delivery details into the account! I did get my money back and I would guess that Paypal is a bit more secure now than it was then, but I still haven't linked my bank account with Paypal since.

You must have either given out your password without knowing or had a key logger or virus on your computer that go that information. If PayPal could be hacked then the hackers would steal everyone's details and PayPal would be forced to report this to all its customers.

I bet once you found out about this "hack" you changed your password and your account was secure from then on. If it was a true hack then changing your password would have made no difference and they would still be able to get into your account.
