Two speeding tickets on the same day!

So I filled in the two NIPs - confirming that it was indeed me at the wheel when the speed cameras snapped me - and sent them both back in a single envelope.
Today two envelopes land on my doormat, each containing an offer to do a Speed Awareness course.
I know it's naughty of me, but I initially thought - 'Ooh, maybe I can get out of BOTH speeding penalties by doing two courses'. But there's a checkbox where you must confirm that you have not have done a course in the last 3 years (that's ok) or that you are 'not currently about to go on one'. Dammit!
The details get checked on the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme database to verify eligibility. If I am deemed ineligible then the 'course offer will be automatically withdrawn and the matter will proceed using normal legal action. In these circumstances you will be sent a Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty.'
Might it be worth filling in BOTH forms saying that I want to do the course, on the off chance that they'll arrive pretty much simultaneously and one will not yet feature on the database before the other is processed? Judging by the letter there is no additional consequence for this - the worst that'll happen is that I'll be deemed ineligible for one, and they'll just send me out the Fixed Penalty for one of them.
Or should I do the proper thing and fill in one form saying I want to do the course, and fill in the other saying I DON'T want to do the course, and get to the same result - the Fixed Penalty for one of them?
As I said, I know it's a bit scummy of me to try and weasel out, but I'm always keen to explore my options!0 -
You could try. But they might think you're taking the mickey and respond by withdrawing both offers.0

Ha! Just checked and my paper licence still has my parents address (where I was living in '92) - I thought I'd changed it!
So I will probably sort out a new photocard licence, then I'll be all present and correct and ready for my penalty points.
If I remember right, not updating a paper driving licence is an offence in itself. I remember sweating on getting a fine when I d not updated mine for many years. It would be wise to get that updated asap.0 -

If he's still contactable at his parents address, it's still fine to use and he doesn't commit any offence.0 -

I'm really just curious about the legal theory rather than whether it would be a wise course in practice to take it to court: are you saying that you could drive for hundreds of miles over the speed limit and in the letter of the law only commit one offence of the same seriousness as briefly exceeding the limit?
Yes, but only if the speed limit remains constant.0 -

Theoretically yes, but good luck finding a stretch of road in the UK that is hundreds of miles long without a single stretch of roadworks with a reduced limit on it!:D;)0 -
When I did mine (which - honestly - is quite interesting, I learned a lot) one of the stats they gave was about why driving at 36mph in a 30 zone was more dangerous than you'd think.
If that course was indeed to teach people why speed matters, then it should be available in public domain i.e. YouTube etc.
Charging people to gain such knowledge proves that it is not about safety but money making plot.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
you can do speed awareness course on one and get points of the 2nd? Or does the speed awareness not get offered if you have simultanous offences??0
