COURT PROCEEDING? G24 and Debt Collectors (DRP) - Dreams

Hi everyone,

I initially made a purchase at Dreams and exceeded the stay time of 75 minutes by about 100 minutes. My car registration number was taken down by the staff at Dreams and was informed everything will be okay.

Since then, I have got 2 letters for G24 and about 3 from DRP (debt collectors). I went back to Dreams and they re-added me on their database and was told I was definitely on there so these letters I have been receiving shouldn't matter.

The problem now is that I've been offered a new 'reduced' amount of £136 to settle the case. They have included in their letter to pay the amount to "avoid potential court proceedings".

I called DRP today and they said there is no way out of this and I will have to make the payment. I have mostly been in contact with Dreams and have only emailed DRP once (about a week an half ago) with my invoice from Dreams dated the same day as my parking charge notice.

Do I now pay my fine as the staff at DRP informed me that it will affect my credit rating for 6 years? Or do I not pay as I am not in the wrong at all? I would much rather keep my credit score than pay £136 but the issue here is that I am not at all liable for the charge so it is all very frustrating.

Thank you for reading :)

    It is not a fine.

You should always ignore debt collectors. They have no powers and cannot take you to court. It was a mistake to contact them. If they told you that not paying them could affect your credit rating, they are telling lies.

Do not pay. You should have appealed to G24. There is nothing stopping you doing this now but they may say you are too late. Do it anyway.

Contact the landowner if this is not Dreams and ask them to cancel it. Ask Dreams to tell G24 to cancel.

  • Don't speak to debt collectors on the phone . Just ignore them completely . They are powerless beggars who cannot take you to court , the only party that can is G24.
Your credit rating can only be affected if you receive a judgment in favour of the Claimant from court and you then don't pay it within 28 days .
Other than a letter before action from G24 or their solicitors or a court claim ignore everything but file any correspondence away safely .
If you receive either of those return here . Get something in writing from Dreams if possible .

and IGNORE for 6 years, unless a court claim (MCOL) camoes through the door

DRP lied to you, you dont have to pay a penny unless a judge says you do, after 6 years its not possible to bring a court claim (only G24 can do so, not DRP)

I phone Dreams up straight after I called DRP and they said they will add me on the database again... Is it better for me to write to them via post or email? (G24) - I think I no longer have the initial letter received so I am not even sure about the post or email address... Looks like I've screwed this up majorly...

How big of a mistake was it it to phone them? :(:(

Get dreams to give you something in writing about you being a genuine customer and not wanting you hassled by G24 or debt collectors. And press on them to make G24 cancel the invoice.

Don't bother talking to DRP at all; they will only lie to you and try to entrap you.

How DARE a retailer allow this to happen and secondly, how DARE they lie to you like that? It does NOT affect your credit rating.

Email Dreams Head office or CEO with a real humdinger of a complaint.

    AS the posts above say.

If the store will not help, your option is the CEO He needs to know that these scammers are harassing you and HIS customers.
    Request he cancels immediately.

As far as DRP saying " that it will affect my credit rating for 6 years?" .... STUPID SCARE TACTICS BY KNOWN MORONS

G24 need to firstly take you to court, if you win, it's all over, If you lose, doubt you will, then you have up to 28 days to pay. It's only if you do not pay that it will be noted on your credit file.

Following most of your advice, I called Dreams and they said there is nothing that they can do and I have to contact G24 myself and provide them with an invoice saying I'm Dreams customer...

Dreams have said that there is nothing they can do nothing as it is the private car park. I think emailing the CEO is in my best thing to do right now.

Very bad customer service from Dreams, cannot see myself shopping there again!

Dreams won't own the car park . If it's on a retail park you need to find the managing agent
