Damp Help?

Hi Everyone
I've only just bought my new house last week, the wear has been dry since but today we've had a lot of rain the past 12 hours and noticed this.
when we moved it we noticed this spot but it was completly dry and because the house was empty for 6 months we just thought a bit of heating would really dry it all out etc
but the rain came today
any help or suggestions would be most appreciated, the first picture is of the damp in the living room, the second picture is of the same area but outside.

Possibly Condensation!I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Are the discoloured areas on the interior wall all damp (i.e: coming down from under the sill), or just along the bottom and to the left?0
-
all the dark yellow is damp/wet
so coming from under thee sill to the skerting board and up around towards the top0 -
Water could be getting in around the window, at the base of the external wall or by whatever that is to the right of the right hand picture.0

Assuming the damp coincided with the 12 hours rain, it seems unlikely to be condensation. Unless by any chance you were drying clothes over radiators because of the rain...?
How extensive is the damp? The staining appears to extend far to the left of the window inside, as well as upwards. If that is all damp, it suggests it is not coming in via the base of the window.
Without a clear picture of the window itself (external) it's hard to comment on that. Have you examined it? Does it seem water-tight? Any gaps around the side/beneath?
How far up does the damp extend inside? To ceiling height? Could it be a leak from above? What is above? Bathroom?
The stain outside is very small. However, is that a downpipe from guttering at the edge of the picture on the right? Might it be blocked? Or the drain beneath it blocked? This could cause water to soak into the wall from outside. If so, clearing the downpipe/drain is easy and would solve the problem.
Have you had a builder round to look at it? At least to get an opinion as to cause?0 -
does the concrete outside bridge the DPC? Does the concrete cover your airbricks?
the painted brick will prevent any drying of the wall by evaporation (was it painted to prevent penetrating damp?)0 -
What is that to the right of the outside wall is it a downpipe ?
If water doesn't drain away from the wall then this could also be the problem. Also check the gutter up above you could wait until it rains again then stand outside this would rule a lot of things out.Pure Dog Loving0 -
You need to check where the DPC is outside, it looks like the outside ground levels have been built up too high and could be bridging it.
Doesn't look like condensation to me.0 -
The pipe to the right is the gas pipe, which runs into the living room and behind the tv, all behind the cover is sealed and not close to the damp in the house
The seal around the windows fine and I can't see where the water would be coming from, it's strange!
The damp that's under the window sill has water droplets on the skirting board, but nothing dripping from the top of the sill
will have to get somone in I suppose, see what they say0 -

I think you're right, the pathway outside looks like it's has been built up0
