Cheap & Reliable Overseas Telephone Calls

If you are willing to make calls abroad only at the weekend, find one that offers an 03 or 0870 access number. If you find the right one, this call will be inclusive in your allowance. You may have to also pay a small fee to the international provider.
If you need to make calls during the week, you'll need to upgrade your inclusive calls to cover weekdays, not just weekends.
An alternative is to get a SIM card from a mobile provider that offers cheap calls to international locations from the UK.
Hi Ian011,
After spending considerable time yesterday looking through the options that you have all posted (and my head was absolutely throbbing) I've decided to opt for your first suggestion above, and take advantage of the weekend inclusive numbers in my Virgin Media landline package, and limit my calls to the weekend, I just need to searching for the companies that offer those codes.
Thanks so much for your help, you've been great.0 -

Thanks Afzaal1988,
I did take a look at the Virgin mobile option, but I don't really want to get locked into a set contract or set monthly payment plan, as I won't be using the facility on a regular basis.
Many thanks for your help.0 -
Be surprised if you find an 01/02/03 access number you can use to call Jamaica at no extra cost. You should be able to find one that you can use as part of a pre paid account. But dont expect the calls to be very cheap.0

The inclusive uk minutes will be of no benefit to you unless you can find a 01/02/03 0870 access number that will connect you cheaply. Let us us know if you find one.;)0 -

Both you and Wongawonga are right, as the majority seem to be either 0871, 084 or 09 numbers, I'll just have to search through to find the cheapest.
Thanks both for the tips.0 -

None of them codes will be cheap as they are not included in your inclusive minutes. The access charge alone is 10.5p a minute before you add the service charge.https://my.virginmedia.com/customer-news/articles/servicenumbers.html
A popular cheap call supplier that gives you access via 01/02/03 minutes
wants from 11.9p a minute. https://www.localphone.com/call/jamaica
http://www.lebara.co.uk/rates/best 4p a minute direct dial will take a lot of beating.0 -

Lebara are definitely looking like the cheapest option for my personal requirements.
Many thanks,

An inclusive 0870 number would give you essentially 'free' calls, but limited to weekends only.
A Lebara SIM would allow you to make calls at any time.0 -

The calls are not free as he pays for them in his bundle, and they are of no use as the chances of anybody offering access to a dearer destination like Jamaica at the weekend or at any other anytime is very unlikely.Unless you know of one.;)0 -
The word "essentially" was the essential word in that sentence. If you already have the bundle, any additional calls, international or otherwise, incur no incremental charges.
The Service Charge for 0870 numbers can be up to 13p per minute, the same as for 0871 and 0872 numbers. This can fund calls to international destinations up to 10p per minute. If the 0870 call is inclusive, the caller doesn't pay the Service Charge, but the dial-through provider still receives it.0
