O/S Daily Tuesday 1 March 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x
DH up and getting ready for work. DS1 now using up some leave, so he’s having a lie-in. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.
Still dark, but looks windy but drying under foot, it was rather blustery during the night as I could hear the wind howling round the house.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushroom pasta for myself and the boys, DH had a late finish, so he had an egg and bacon sandwich when he got in. Tonight it’s fish, chips, beans/veg – DS2 has his college interview tonight so again food will be a bit disjointed.
Work yesterday was busier than we expected, it was a steady flow all day. We had reasonably good technology too, so it always makes the job much easier! Not sure what today will bring, we’ll see.
Keep safe and well x

Morning, thank you for starting us off nmlc.
Off to work in a minute, after a rotten night of virtually no sleep and I will just have to manage. I feel so tired, still, this is a very short week.
I made a use it up meal last night and now there are no potatoes, OH will have to sort that out, I cannot lug potatoes on the bus. Well of course I can but won't!
I will look forward to a long weekend as a positive way of addressing the week.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all
Pinch punch and all that.
hubby has a cuppa, the fish have been fed, the packups are made and I feel like a wrung out dish rag, as I was awake from 1:15 until 4:30 and now I'm off to sort out the early morning rush at DD2's house.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning All
Wet but much milder here. Small load of washing on the airer. Rubbish night's sleep but I'll survive!
Started my new job officially yesterday and have to leave early today for a docs appt that I made a few weeks ago. Got a dentist appt for tomorrow after work as I have a crown at the front that keeps falling out and it's very loose!
Not much happening here, hope you all have good days. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning, thank you nmic for starting us off
Wet here at the moment, I think the rain started as we went to bed last night, hoping it clears later.
GP appointment went well, my kidney function has increased thankfully and need to have another blood test in April. Both GP and I think it was because the diabetes wasn't being controlled properly, but now that he has changed my medication to a slow release tablet I feel so much better.
Off to Wetherspoons this evening with the "girls" for a steak and salad and a catch up of all their news, I look forward to seeing them all, we are all retired except one, but we worked together for many years and became firm friends.
My youngest sister and husband are coming to see us this morning. They spend about half the year in America so it will be good to see them before they go back again.
Have a good day all

morning all. Well it seems the rain is back with us, but at least it doesn't feel so cold!
We went to watch middle DGD (7) make her Brownie Promise last night. She was word perfect. It was such a sweet occasion. It's only a small pack which is such a shame as Brown Owl devotes a lot of time to them. Eldest DGD (11) missed it as she has now gone down with the dreaded lurgy that's been going round the family.
SNOOZER that was some walk you did. In a different life we tackled long walks like that. I love Arnside, it's like stepping back in time. We've had a couple of short breaks there. The views across the Kent estuary are beautiful (on a clear day!) and I love to sit and watch all the water birds and the train coming across from Grange.
Nothing planned for today but I should really ring the hairdressers (now I have done my grey roots!) and get a trim.
I've just got some braised diced beef out to defrost so will add some veg to that and transform into a stew. That will be Mr TA's lunch for a couple of days. Dinner will be smoked haddock for me and salmon for Mr TA.
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) to those wanting/needing them. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Had a good night with Evie again not a peep out of her, she is just starting to show an interest in toys, in particular a soft elephant, thanks to Tru for helping me with the photos last night !
Off to work today, Evie will go to my fil again, she seemed to enjoy it yesterday once she had settled in.
Dinner tonight will be some pork belly strips in some kind of sauce and rice, dd will have some quorn chicken.
Need to do a wash tonight and get it in the tumble I will need work shirts for tomorrow.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
My last day at work today , I have very mixed feelings as I shall be leaving some amazing people behind , but it became intolerable to work there because of the management .
My new job starts on Monday so I have a few days off :T
Just back from a few days in Sicily, what a fantastic place , I wish we had the markets they have for fresh produce, so cheap too .
Had an amazing trip up mount Etna , seeing the lava fields was just incredible
Right off for brekky
Have a great day everyone xx
Just to say redruby so pleased about Evie xx0 -

Morning everyone,
Wet and mild here, sitting eating brekkie watching the rain sliding down the window.
Work is so not what I wanted, came home last night and promptly burst into tears, am hardly spoken to all day and treated more as if am a temp rather than new member of staff. Makes for a very long and lonely day, have tried making effort with people but my position in the office means am quite isolated. So, have made a plan and will hand in notice to leave mid April, will obviously keep looking for alternative in between but think it's important to me to know that time in that place is finite if you know what I mean?
Anyways, am going out with my SIL and two of my nieces tonight for a meal so that gives me something to look forward to, lovely
Hope your last day goes well Sistercas
Take care all and have a good day x0 -
Morning all.
Still in bed waiting for the house to warm up as the heating has just kicked in.
Was going to see Mom today but it's hammering down so I'll give it a miss.
Bits and pieces to do in the house today. I'd do my windows but my Grandson broke the bowl I use last week using it as a drum and I haven't yet replaced it.
The dogs need a good grooming. A right scruffy pair they look.
Onwards and forwards
