Unforeseen circumstances - Cancelling Sky Fibre subscription early

Hello,
My situation is that I have been made redundant and in the process ofhaving to move back to my parents house. I am pretty much halfway through a Sky fibre broadband contract as it was started back in October. Had I known that I'd be stung with redundancy, I wouldn't have signed up to a new contract. The termination fee will be somewhere in the region of £150 and I have no choice but to cancel/disconnect from the property, as I am in rented accommodation. My parents are not able to take on the broadband neither as they are already tied with another service provider.
In these circumstances what is the likelihood Sky would be able to cancel my contract without the termination charges as my financial situation will be severely impacted. I am not able to afford rented accommodation and moving back home as a last resort.
Can anybody give any advice on how I should approach this when making the call to Sky?
There have been similar situations which I have heard and seen online but with mixed success. I understand they are under no obligation to waive the fees but hoping they will understand the financial and emotional stress of my current situation.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

You can only ask nicely .
But you are in contract and they can charge the whole term .0 -
You've got very little chance of them cancelling the charges. The best you can hope for is some sort of payment arrangement.0

To be blunt, no chance whatsoever. The only grounds for voiding the contract without penalty are death or bankruptcy.
But of course, you have nothing whatsoever to lose by asking. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
How many months do you have to go? For Sky it works out to £17.95 per month, worst case scenario, early termination charges. (£12.24 for Fibre unlimited and £5.71 for line rental) it would be a bit less if you have some kind or offer on the fibre as they can't charge you more than you would have paid for the service. So if you had Fibre for £10, that is the most they will charge.
If it's too much still then look into downgrading first, then cancelling. Sky charge a fee of £20 for downgrading broadband within contract but don't generally charge the ETC for the service that is being downgraded (check with the person you are speaking with to make sure) and it doesn't start a new contract unless you take an offer (which can sometimes also work to your advantage) Once downgraded, you will be able to cancel with much lower termination charges.
Lastly, if the termination charges are still more than £70 then consider downgrading and accepting free broadband for 12 months with a recontract and then cancel. As the broadband is free there would be no ETC for that and only line rental, 12 months at £5.71 making £68.52 termination charges.....plus your £20 downgrade cost in the first place.0 -

If you accept a re-contract , then you are stuck with it, as there is no cooling off period for existing customers; just for new ones.0
