I got this when I applied for PIP,

I wasn't sure I would get the award never mind a paper based acceptance, Mine got passed back to the decision maker at DWP, Got a 5 year awarded to me... Next review 2019.

People say PIP is a complete farse etc, But if people are genuinely disabled or ill they will get what they are entitled to.

Thanks paragon :) Glad to hear it went well for you.
I heard bad things about the people who process DLA, and the DWP in general, while i was applying for it, but have never had a bad experience. They have all been really helpful.

I do PIP forms and helped complete DLA forms for quite some time. More experience in DLA than PIP because of a change of role. In general, I found DWP staff helpful and receptive and I'd say the vast majority of awards were pretty fair. Of course, there were some stonkingly bad decisions (both ways!) and I know from personal experience how bad the medical assessment can be.

Someone from DWP did tell me a while back that one of the major things they look at on the form is the medication. I am not sure how true that is now.

From memory, i think the questions about medications are near the front of the form, so i think it would be quite a major thing too.

Just bumping this in case anyone else has anything to add, preferably based on their own experience?

Hi kitty. No he didnt have a face to face assessment then either- i didnt think they existed for DLA claimants?

I only ever applied for PIP but thought DLA applicants also normally had f2f. However, I can't see them suddenly deciding a couple of months after your son was awarded DLA that they would refuse him PIP.

Good luck and I hope you hear favourably soon. The waiting is the worst!

Update to say that he has been awarded Enhanced rate for care and mobility until 2020. 100% paper based and only took 1 month from applying to being told his award.
