Are there any reasons why I should avoid cars with turbo 3 cylinder engines?

The vast majority of 2006-reg cars aren't 10yo yet. B'sides, great fun though the C107go is, I rather suspect most have had low-mileage lives of pootling to the shops/station etc.Peugeot sold approx 20,000 107s in 2006, so should surely be a fair few with more miles about on such a strong sale?0 -
I got the 3 cylinder 107 when it came out in 2005 and have about 100k on it now. I doubt many have big mileages on them since they aren't a great motorway car. My engine has never missed a beat, plugs are still a nice light brown on changing. Coolant level never drops. Uses about 1/2 litre of oil every 2000miles. Still on original cat. From my experience it's a great little engine and fun to rev it occasionally. It's fine in a small car, but in a 208 with auto, the 1.2 would be the bare minimum. Make sure you test drive at 70 on the motorway or DC to check the noise. It's a bit wearing in the 107. Great town car though.0

Yes, I have test driven a new Peugeot 208 with a 1.2L PureTech 110 EAT6 S&S engine and automatic gearbox. I've driven it at 70mph on a motorway and it had plenty of power (110 bhp). In fact, I had a bit of a job keeping it from straying over 70mph - it seemed to want to race away. And, in my opinion, there was no excessive noise.Nobbie1967 wrote: »... One thing that worries me a little though is the new EAT6 automatic gearbox. I suspect it is basically an automated manual gearbox, but I cannot find any confirmation of that on the Internet. In the past, I've tended to avoid this type of automatic gearbox because the gear changes can be very jerky. Having said that, the gear changes on my test drive in the Peugeot 208 were beautifully smooth. So, if the EAT6 is an automated manual gearbox, Peugeot must have worked hard to smooth out the gear changes.0 -
The EAT6 is an improved conventional (torque converter) box.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0
