I want to know if Chingford or Gants Hill is better to purchase a property to raise a family.
Pros and cons please.
Cheers,

Well, I am not that expert but I think it will be little expensive in Chingford.0

Chingford is streets ahead of Gant's Hill... It's also a hell of a lot more expensive.
Personally, I wouldn't want to live in Gants Hill, it's just too built up. Chingford on the other hand feels a 'little' more rural and is a much nicer area.0 -
Thanks guys, any particular areas in Chingford, I know North Chingford is pricer than South.0

That's because North Chingford is quite a lot nicer than South Chingford.
I'd personally sacrifice a little bit of bang for buck in house spec in order to live in North Chingford over South Chingford. You will have Epping Forest on your doorstep, nicer shops, bars and restaurants, and easy access to the overground rail station that takes you to Liverpool Street in less than 30 mins.0 -
Have a look at Highams Park, one stop down from north Chingford on the overground. Quiet, easy access to the forest and family oriented.0

Where is the nearest major retailers here. I know Highams Park has a big Tesco, but where are other well known retailers.0

I have never lived in Chingford but I have lived in Gants Hill and would never do so again. The only pro I can find is that there's a half decent deli there. The cons are too numerous to list becuase the internet would run out.0

That's part of its charm, there are none and it is this that makes for a quiet, family orientated and peaceful (for London) area. If you want large retail outlets, then none of these areas are for you.0 -
I did venture out to see Chingford, the mount wasn't particularly great so to speak. It did have a number of shops. It gets better as you go up the hill towards Ridgeway. Personally, it gets pleasant going towards Station Road. I did see the former walthamstow dog tracks and can see new builds going on.0

Less than a mile away from that Tesco is a Sainsburys and a Morrison. Travel a little bit further afield you have a much bigger Tesco, Ikea, Argos, PC World etc.0
