I recommend you try your OT, as the first port of call.
And in the short term, ask if there is a local bathing scheme for those who can't manage at home?

This is interesting. We are just about to have our present bathroom converted to 'mobility friendly' i.e. wet room, walk-in shower, non-slip floor, easy-clean wall tiles, new loo, hand-basin, vanity unit with cupboards under, the lot. It's not a council property. Cost: just over £13K. It will take approx 4 days during which time we'll be staying in a local Premier Inn.

I've been given dire warning that 'the property will be unsaleable if there's no bath'. But it does sound as if this kind of idea is becoming more widespread and maybe therefore more acceptable. We've often stayed in hotels where there was a wet-room as standard.

This will be the last major work that this 1930s 2-bed bungalow will have done to it.

I know some of our local councillors - I stood myself a few years ago. And I know that our local council has NO money beyond that which is already allocated and spent.

We had the same done with our bathroom - into a wet room - our work took 2 weeks .....

With the flooring before the wet flooring could be laid it needed to 24 or 48hrs to dry before the next stage.

Even when we had a burst pipe from the bathroom we had to go through the saga of moving out as while floor needed replacing - we were out for a week that time.

The flooring we had a choice of colours on the repair/replace - we choose th purple - never again - it gets dirty so quickly esp from the rubber seals of the door divided the shower area x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

I'm the opposite and would hate having a shower. I don't like water falling down on me or the thought of being boxed in; probably a result of forced communal showers after school PE lessons, over 50 years ago.

There's no comparison between what you describe, and having your own wet room, walk-in shower, not boxed in at all! You do it yourself, in privacy with your own toiletries and warm towels, not forced, not communal, not being hurried to get on to the next lesson with your hair still wet.

I used to go to a local gym for aqua-aerobics and you shower after that, but there are individual shower cubicles. I suppose dressing afterwards could be described as 'communal', but no one is hurrying you and it's quite a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere.

We simply cannot, physically, get into a bath. Even an over-bath shower can be dangerous, climbing over the bath side with not enough grab-rails/grab-handles.
