Every call I have made to British Gas has been to 0800 975 9712. The persons I have spoken to listen attentively and then say they cannot help and that all my problems need to be taken up with Scottish Power. I do feel that the computer rules and human intervention is not possible. Can't someone do the old fashioned thing and pick up the phone and speak to their counterpart Scottish Power?

I have sent emails to talktous@britishgas.co.uk and not received any direct and specific replies.

Hi Malrichvic

As part of British Gas' collective contract, we asked it to set up a specialist team who'd be dedicated to handling queries in relation to our collective switch. The team has been specially trained and has privileged access to additional systems to try and fix glitches.

You can call it on 0800 975 9712.

I hope this helps and that it is able to help you resolve this issue.

Thanks for replying. This is the number I've been using. Please see my reply to Hengus.

I have phoned the National Grid and been told that the property is not registered by either Scottish Power or British Gas.

Sorry for any confusion, it wouldn't be registered with National Grid if it is a IGT, as they would only hold details of the supply numbers they are responsible for, not the IGT.
AFAIK most IGT's are not customer facing, i.e wont speak to you directly as they are a 3rd party who only deal with the suppliers themselves.
I don't think you would be dealing with a shipperless site as both suppliers are claiming they supply the property.
British Gas will be responsible for the switch and should have details of who the gas transporter is, as i had stated before the MPRN's of most IGT's start with a number 7 and the 2nd number will indivate who the transporter is.
Find out this information and ask the Customer Service representative if you can speak to a member of the transfer's team. They should be able to provide you the timescales for each IGT. If they can't and you haven't already done so, raise a complaint

Thank you.
I think the IGT is Energetics as that is the company also responsible for my electricity.
My MPRN starts 75.
I'll go back to British Gas tomorrow and ask for the timescale for an Energetics transfer.

I emailed talktous@britishgas.co.uk yesterday and should get a reply within 48 hrs (am on Thursday 10th March). I specifically asked which company (Scottish Power or British Gas) is currently supplying my gas and, as an IGT is involved, how long will the process take. I'll post the content of the reply.
