O/S Daily Thread for Sunday 28th February 2016

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

• Morning all

I've been up since just after 4 and I've run out of quiet jobs to do so I thought I'd start the daily thread.

Plans for today include getting the rest of the washing dry and doing all the housework done that I didn't do yesterday.

DGD was collected at 3:30ish by which time we'd been to DD1's plumbed in her dishwasher and washing machine, taken delivery of two large fridge freezers, got both her showers working, fed and watered the dogs, checked out the garden and sorted the greenhouse.

I got the rest of the washing done and got some of it dry, the dry is all folded and waiting to be put away once hubby wakes up.

Hubby wants a leisurely day today, but I'm hoping to chivvy him into the garden for an hour or so just because the fresh air will do him good.

I'm planning on finishing the housework by 4ish and from then on I'll crochet.

Have a good day everyone.

Hugs Hester

Morning everyone.

Thanks for the thread Hester.

It's cloudless outside and the moon is so bright still and the light is coming, very strange just now. Wish I had my camera handy.

Last night I caught up with the three NCIS programmes from Friday, good to have Jethro back in my life.

RR - your new doggie sounds delightful, I hope it all works out for you.

I think it's time for another snuggle down.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Morning :hello:

TravellingAbuela and csarina Thanks x If he hadn't pulled a muscle and reacted slightly to the flu jab at the same time, we'd still have no idea the asbestos was there and wouldn't have been worrying at all! Funny how things go, isn't it?
We bought THIS for Scampi, there is a huge difference in his behaviour when he wears it while out walking – most of the time. One size was too small, the next was slighty too big so we bought the bigger one and have to faff with the velcro when putting it on, to make sure it's nice and snug :D

redruby I was wondering if the parcel you were picking up was a dog! So pleased for you. She's adorable :D

Gers I caught up with Jethro too! And the new NCIS New Orleans. What do you think of Jethro's new hair cut? I wasn't keen on the marine style he had, this is so much better I think :D

Yesterday mr tru nipped home, picked Scampi up and took him to work for a few hours. He had a great time playing in the office, exploring the little enclosed area out the back and had a good walk along the river (it's a big stream really!). He had to be shut in the office when customers came in, it's a decent size room with glass all down one side so he could see into the shop and didn't feel locked away. Must admit I enjoyed the peace and quiet, lol.

My leg's improving so it's easier to move around, I've sped up a bit too. I'll take Scampi out this morning, still hobbling a bit but I feel strong enough to hold on and not lose my balance if he throws a tantrum :D Today I'm going to start emptying the tall plastic shelving unit, clean it off and bring it indoors. I've ordered some seeds, they should be here in the next couple of days. We have french doors in the kitchen, we only open both up in the summer, the shelves fit perfectly in front of one door and seeds germinate nicely there.

A lazy afternoon is planned - crochet and a film.

• Morning all. And where's AOD's sleep bank when you need it!! The lingering symptoms that finally clobbered me Friday night floored me without warning yesterday morning. Such a weariness came over me and I collapsed on the sofa and slept most of the day, wakening at meal times! (I'll know I'm really poorly when I stop eating!) I slept again most of the evening, went to bed and slept till 5.30 this morning. I now feel back to normal! Weird but just glad it was only a 24 hour thing.

So today it's the jobs I didn't do yesterday! Currently have a pan of Bolognese simmering away (DGD ate the last portion stored in the freezer so need to re-stock) There's a small joint of beef defrosting for lunch - the last of the Christmas stock! Will do the veg shortly. Then I really must clean the oven!

RR I must admit I suspected a doggy! Much happiness together! We so miss a dog in our lives but the way things are now we couldn't give one the attention it deserves.

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Take care xx

• TRU that jacket is similar to the Thunder jacket my friend got for her dog. But she paid over £30 on Amazon - ouch! No wonder her DH thought she was mad! But she's had the last laugh as, so far, it's working wonders.

I'm glad you're feeling better now TravellingAbuela x

Scampi's fur on his tummy is very thin, he shivers on very cold mornings so we bought the jacket to keep him warm on his walks. The calming effect was just a surprise added bonus :D

Morning, still trying to build up a deposit in the sleep bank but failing - yesterday evening I fell asleep on the dofa (hope did not drool) but then went to bed thinking I would sleep but took ages to fall asleep and have been up for a few hours now, achieving very little. OH on the other hand, can sleep for Britain, he always has been able to, he is a night owl though..
Today I must muck out the bathroom. Adult son employs the animal at a waterhole method of engaging with water. So I spend a fair chunk of time mopping up.
Yesterday I went to view a house that was lovely but not right for us, please carry on picking up, housing market.
Now must look back at yesterday's posts to find out about RR's dog package.

ETA how lovely, autogetitwrong is insisting that it is a jackpot though.

Also forgot to say that DS sneaked off to the Iran Ian bakery and came back with a box of v fancy cakes, which have been eaten up, said it was a treat for no reason but I think because he had upset me the previous evening.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
• Good morning all,

A little dull here at the moment, but I am hoping it will brighten up.

Will shortly go up and strip our bed and get that in the WM. Give bedroom a clean and remake bed. I love bedlinen when it has been dried outside.

We are both doing Dr. Michael Moseley's 8 week blood sugar diet and it is going very well. Hard for Himself to start with not having potatoes with a meal, but he is used to it now. He really enjoys the bowls of salad I prepare for him because I always try to make it interesting and we are having lots of veg as well.

RR how lovely for you, I am sure he will bring much happiness to you all.

Hester you make me dizzy just reading what you do each day, but you sound happy,

Judi those poor babies. Fancy your girls having to build a shed for mothers to leave their babies there. How sad in this day and age that this is happening. At least they will be safe from animals until the girls get to them. Amidst all that misery you must be so proud of them.

Have a good day all

Morning everyone,

Dry and relatively bright here but still cold, heating is on as Mum is with us for the weekend.

Tru glad that Scampi's biker jacket is working, perhaps it's a security thing, having something warm snuggled round him?
TA bless you, must have needed all that sleep, hope you have a better day today

Must admit am going to have lazy day today, hope to take Mum to have a look at a snowdrop walk round some stately house gardens today, we can wrap up warm just as long as it doesn't rain. My eldest niece is actually getting married at the house in August so very exciting :)
We popped over to see Bill yesterday and he had a pink lady apple from his Grandma, she actually stood in his stable looking over his door whilst I gave him a groom, kept her out of the wind and, despite, being round horses all her life with me and Dad, still finds their size etc bit intimidating.
Splashed out on leg of lamb for lunch as her favourite, will do an apple crumble for afters.

Have a good day all x

Morning All

tru - So glad your Dad is ok, hopefully there wont be any change. I love Scampi's jacket, all he needs now is some DMs!
HH - Sounds like you're getting DD on track.
Pleased to hear you are feeling better TA.

Had a lovely day yesterday, went for a swim then took my bike to DDs and we cycled through Glasgow along the Clyde in the most glorious sunshine. Stopped for a coffee at the Peoples Palace, lovely to see so many folk out enjoying the good weather.

Candlelight - My washing smelt lovely when I brought it in yesterday, I even ironed the bedding so that I could smell that lovely fresh air.

More washing to go out today and the sun is splitting the skies although there is a hard frost, I think I'll have to walk to the pool as it will take too long to defrost the car for a 5 min journey.

Need to find something in the freezer for dinner, last night it was lo thai curry. I'm quite fancying salmon if there is any.

RR - how was little Evie's first night?

Have a lovely Sunday. Take care. XX
