If your car pre-dates the emissions based system, its CO2 emissions are irrelevant and always will be irrelevant to your road tax.Anyone know of a method of converting or estimating g/km from the % volume given in MOT emissions tests? I was just wondering where my old car is likely to come on the scale of the new system and how much it would cost. At last MOT my car was measured at 0.16% vol.
If your car post-dates the new system, your registration document will state the exact emissions of CO2 in g/km.
If it's not stated, you don't need to know it.0 -
A friend of mine has bought a renault modus and her car tax is also £35 a year. In fact she diesn't have a 6 month price option - lol.
Me I have one of the cars that I'm not supposed to have (something about tractors and chelsea) however it is not one of the really huge ones (only a 2 litre) but I'm paying over £200 a year - sorry everyone but it's not enough to put me off.

Make £2018 in 2018 no. 37 - total = £1626.25/£2018 :j0 -
I've just renewed my car tax on-line and had to pay a £2.50 service charge for using credit card which i think is wrong. The DVLA/Post office are saving money this way.
I only did it as I get 4% cashback at the moment with Capital One.
£207.50 and I only drive 3000 miles per year.0 -

It doesn't really have any direct correlation with the MOT test values.
If you're curious to know what your emissions are, CO2 emissions are more or less proportionate to fuel consumption, so if you find a current model with similar urban MPG figures to your own car (compare petrol with petrol, or diesel with diesel) you can roughly say that its CO2 emissions figures will be similar too. Though as MarkyMarkD mentioned, this is purely academic as there is no way of changing an older pre March 01 car over to the new charging system.0 -
You should always report potholes damage caused or no damage caused (see below) and report them by mail and email. You should complain to the local council if a pothole causes damage.
No they won't, you have to show that they were negligent in not repairing the roads, you have to show they wereThey should eventually pay the cost to repair damage or replace the wheel.
a) aware of the pothole
b) had sufficient time to repair it since becoming aware of it.
Hence you should always report potholes as a service to other road users who may be damaged by them in the future.
Yes you should. You should take pictures of the pot-hole and note the location and complain, complain, complain. .0 -

Good question, I'd like to see one too. for clarity we want to see a make/model list of all cars and their banding. preferably ordered by banding not make/model.0 -

there is no other car that beats it
if it is 99g/km then there are other cars which equal it and beat it the smart deisel and the Toyota Prius.0 -

No he doesn't need to know, but as I understand him, he was just curious how his car would be rated.
To anewman,
I don't know but I think it is not as easy as taking MOT readings and converting them, I don't know how the test is done, But I suspect it is done by simulating the car running a long journey at 60mph possibly on a rolling road. They then measure the emmissions over the period. You cannot compare that sort of test with an MOT idle test.0
