I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 in January and I still havn't used it. It needs a nano sim card. Being an oldie I'm not technically minded and looking at the deals, I'm bewildered by all the jargon. I just want to be able to access wi-fi at home and occasionally access the internet when on holidays. The problem is that I live in a forested area and mobile signals are poor here. I can't use O2 or Vodafone as no signal at all. Only the EE/Virgin/TMobile or 3 networks work in my area. I don't expect to use much data as I use wi-fi most of the time. Can anyone recommend a good deal please?

You don't need a sim card to use the tablet on wifi.

If you want to use it while out and about, you need a "mobile broadband" sim if you go with Three as they don't allow their normal PAYG sim cards to be used in a tablet, you could use any EE sim (either designated as mobile broadband or normal) as they don't mind.

Three are currently doing a PAYG Mobile Broadband sim that gives 200MB a month for free for a one off £10 top up (the top up also gives you a one off 1GB of data), if your use is really going to be low it should be enough, any additional use would cost you 1p per MB or you could buy an add on that lasts for 30 days if you find you need more data.

Thank you, sounds a good offer.

I'm puzzled though because I've tried to access wi-fi in my home with this tablet but it won't work without a sim card in. Does anyone else have this tablet and can you get wi-fi without a sim card in?

I suspect the direct offer from Three with 200MB per month free and 1p per MB for extra data is both safer, more reliable and cheaper.

I can't think of a single reason not to go direct and avoid the new Ovivo...

    ;)

What happens when you try? It should work as any other Android phone/tablet would, have you connected it to your wifi network?

It seems to be connected, but nothing happens. I don't have any problem accessing wi-fi at home with my Samsung Galaxy Ace phone. Not sure why the tab won't connect. I've tried several times.

Are you connected to the right network ?

Eneterd the right passphrase to use the wifi ?

It doesn't need a sim to use wifi.

I've not had a sim in my Galaxy tab s since I bought it 18 months ago. I use wifi or tether to my mobile phone and share it's data.
