Last couple of double ups I've used the points to buy LED light bulbs for the house. Good way of getting LED bulbs half price and saves you money on electric.
Just seen light bulbs are excluded this time.

Wanted some large storage boxes. £12 at Sainsburys. £7.20 at Tesco, with a save £4 on £40 spend. Every little helps.illegitimi non carborundum0

I didn't know about the fact you could only double up in a known store.
However after a quick phone call to nectar (by the staff) and answering a couple of security questions I got my voucher!
Also got a £1.50 off £15 till spit that I was able to use at the same time.
Cost me 25p in real money to buy 3 decent bottles of plonk and a bag of kettlechips!0 -
Its part of the fraud checks e.g. if you had a stolen card, you dont know where the card hard been used previously, therefore it needs some checks eg whats your address, to validate the person.
I think the same applies when redeeming points ordinarily.
Clearly the additional checks are appropriate as a help to avoid theft of points but there was an earlier post on the thread saying you had to redeem the points for vouchers only in your home store.
Sorry. But it simply isn't true that you can only redeem in your "home store". It isn't even true that you can only redeem in a store you have used in the previous 12 months. That's why I asked whether anyone had seen this in current written T&C.0 -
To ensure that your Nectar balance is recognised at your selected participating store, we recommend that you have swiped and earned Nectar points at that store within the preceding 12 months.illegitimi non carborundum0

I think "home store" is just a hold over. When Nectar first launched you could only spent points directly from your card at the till in one nominated store. Other than that you had to get paper vouchers through the post. In the very early days your till receipt would not even show your points balance if it was not your "home store".
I don't know if the "used within 12 months" measure is effective but as a victim of clubcard fraud - I am happy for them to try.0 -
What a faff!
Decided I wanted a new kitchen bin, no one in store could tell me for sure whether this was included. The assistant was lovely and very helpful but I find it bizarre that they have no real way of knowing for sure if what you want is included in the promotion! The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
The whole thing just a massive faff for not much in return.
The "Home Store" thing is a joke. We're in 2016. Why make me queue for 20 minutes to register at a store I've not been to?
It's all computerised. That's how you know I've got those points.
Pathetic.
And there was nothing worth buying with the points. We left it.0 -
I think they could at least term "home store" better, since that implies that you can only have one. While it is for fraud prevention, I'm not sure how useful it is. Aren't you more likely to lose your card near/in a home store?0

Had never used the double up before and never will again. For me, it was a complete shambles. Wanted to get 2 kids electric tooth brushes, got to say, the staff were unbelievably helpful, so we eventually established that I needed electrical. Got my £40 voucher, went to checkout with the rest of the shopping, system refused to accept the voucher. Supervisor took them to customer services and said they should go through there, they didn't! CS spoke to someone, could only spend £40! I was expecting to pay the balance, so it is not as if I was attempting to steal/defraud. Suggested I buy one toothbrush and something else to take cost to £40, trotted back into body of store, picked up headphones which I could give to my nephew, they ended up being reduced so my cost only came to £30 odd, at that stage I was happy to lose the balance as I had wasted an hour of my life, but because it was less than £40, system refused to accept the voucher!
Spoke to Nectar, said there should not have been an issue, suggested I try again and if still no luck, Sainsburys will refund the points. Staff in Sainsburys were so helpful and did their best, but if the system is not set up correctly, there is not a lot they can do. Got my points back, but cheesed off that I have to pay £50 cash for 2 toothbrushes when I was only expecting to pay the balance of £10 :mad:A smile costs little but creates much0
