Visa Card - Where to check Statement

Options
Guys,

I wonder if Visa Europe or Visa UK have any website where could I check my Visa statement (activity statement) for my card as alternative to the online banking available on the website of the bank that issued my card and/or where I hold my physical bank account?

Due to this website moneysavingexpert forum rules, the website doesn't allow me to post url links so I can only describe the url links i checked, at least few of them. I chedked:

visaeurope making payments, webpage referring to verified by visa

However there is no Sign Up (login) option. Also checked here:

secure checout visa, webpage referring to createaccount

but UK isn't even listed. I did some further research and discovered this:

gvol visaonline

However this seem to be only for financial institutions and cards processing companies. Furthermore it might be only for USA and doesn't even contain activity records (statement).

What I am referring to is something similar as american express has as an alternative to online banking, probably just for USA (I need for Visa but im from UK) on the following link:

homepage of american express website

Does Visa Europe (Visa UK) offer anything like that where could I check my statement - my card activity as online banking alternative website?

    The short answer is No.

The long answer is No, and why on earth would you want to do such a strange thing anyway?
  • Because I am waiting for the replacement card to be shipped to my address on account. While waiting, I still want to see the activity (the statement). Cannot access online banking, the reason is obvious: pinsentry device requires physical card in order to generate my random code.

I don't know any bank in UK that doesn't allow alternative signing in with limited functionality without pinsentry.
  • grumbler not true, if bank is providing pinsentry devices (the calculators), those are required in order to access online banking. However my question wasn't about pinsentry device but about checking the activity on my card. One way is to simply call and ask. How about other online way?

Sounds odd, I've got those calculator things for NatWest, RBS, CoOp, Nationwide, First Direct, HSBC, M&S and Clydesdale, and not one of those doesn't let me login without the device?

EDIT - googled PINsentry specifically, came up with Barclays - you can login without the device with them too - http://www.barclays.co.uk/Helpsupport/LoggingintoOnlineBanking/P1242604492621

You are mistaken. At least for UK banks. The device is necessary typically for setting up new payees only.

The other way is to login without Pinsentry, although you possibly should have set up the alternative way earlier.
  • I currently don't need to add new payees, don't even need to use any money on my account, not even to use my card. All I want is alternative way of online banking to see the activity on card (visa debit card).

To clarify: I am not asking for alternative way of accessing online banking without usage of pinsentry device but alternative online way where to see activity (the statement). Its big difference.

But your reason given for wanting an alternative website to check the statement was because you can't use the card reader and can only access the lender's site with a card reader; others have pointed out that this is unlikely to be true.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

Your card is issued by your credit card provider, Visa only supplies the 'machinery' through which your transaction comes from the merchant to your bank. Visa has a contract with the provider, not with the card user. Visa's computer only knows that the card number x has a PIN y and a limit z. So, if everything is correct the authorisation is granted in an instant (or gets denied, as the case may be).

If you can't log into your account (which seems strange to me as well) you will have to contact your card provider by phone and pass security.

A difference yes but as the only way to see your card activity is via on line banking then an alternative method of accessing your account without the card & pin sentry device is what you need.
