Hi Paul, just looked at your broadspeed link and total cost over 11 grand. I paid under 10 grand. Also I didn't want to use finance and pay interest on the top of the car price. Michele
If you read the posts further up you'll find you don't need to pay interest (or least not much)Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
When I got my CMax list was £20500. The best from the discounters was £16600 with dealer finance contribution and I paid £14950 for a 7 week old pre reg.0

Well, the trick is to use the finance, then cancel it so you get the benefit of the £2,000 before you pay any interest at all BUT i "think" Broadspeed use that in their pricing, so its not really a further £2,000 off the £11,000.
Your deal is fine - but dont let the salesman tell you you "saved" £4,000. Its probably less than £1,000, and your car is on a different reg plate which will impact its future value, and i dont think you qualify for the cheap servicing pack either.
Its part of the problem with pre-reg cars - the salesman will quote you a "saving" against a headline list price, but who pays list these days?
Good cars though - we helped my Father in Law get one in November and he loves his.0 -

Sounds ok. I would bet its on a previous plate though, and the interest rate would have been subsidised on a new car, and theres usually servicing incentives these days too.
If the real saving to you is £1650 because you wouldnt have used dealer finance anyway, you got the car there and then, etc, etc, then thats a useful saving and you're realistic about what you really saved.
However the problem lies when people think "oh I saved £5.5K by buying a pre-reg, compared to the price of a new one".0 -
Current plate at the time, 15 plate in June 15. Admittedly it was the old model but the dealers and discounters were still selling them. I could have bought my local dealer's ex demo with less add ons on a 64, 6 months old, 6.5K miles for £16000 or they had a lower spec pre reg, £1K lower list, for the same price. Silly thing was I had to get a 160 mile bus trip to get it as my local dealer would not bring it up from the other branch, 50p and a few hours was not too much of a pain though.0

Sounds like you got a good deal then! :beer:0 -
Actually Paul I was offered the finance deal but due to problems in the past with directangular debits taking out too much money I will never get another finance deal again xxx0

Well each to his own - but that's a bit like me saying I'm never ever going to go back to Wales because the last twice I went there it rained the whole weekend.
I'm not picking on Wales by the way - other destinations are available and the same logic would be applicable.
I'm over the moon with my finance deal - I got £2000 off and settled the finance in a couple of days and paid somewhere around £10 in interest.
I'll certainly use finance again - for me it's a no-brainer.
But as I said, if you don't want a big reduction in the price of a car that's fine.0
