O/S Daily Friday 26th February 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning everyone :hello:
I got up bright and early so I thought I would start us off. I want to wish Gers and LaineyT a very Happy Birthday :bdaycake::bdaycake:. Hope you both have a fabulous day xx
Waving hello to elona as well, I really hope your move goes smoothly and you are happy in your new home.
I hope you and your brother had a great time catching up JackieO, it must be lovely to see him again.
Well I am a lot happier, don't know why really, maybe just a combination of sunshine, payday and having hubby home today along with good friends and family. Not going to over analyse it, I'm just going to enjoy the feeling while it lasts:D:D.
The lasagne I made went down a treat so today hubby wants a chinese takeaway. I don't mind one bit as it's a day off from cooking. Hubby always cooks on the weekend anyway so I will have a nice rest from it. We are having roast lamb on Sunday which I am really really looking forward to. Tomorrow, I think we will be having baked potatoes with different fillings. As you may be able to tell my diet has gone to pot AGAIN but I will be restarting on Monday. I don't think I can do the 800 calorie a day diet as it's too hard but I may manage a modified version.
Well that is all from me for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -

Morning all. Glad you are in a good place DUMPLING and long may you remain so.
Happy Birthday to GERS and LAINEY - have a lovely day whatever you are doing. JACKIE hope you are enjoying your time with DB and having some good old natters and much reminiscing. ELONA I hope all goes well with the move and you are very content in your new home. CSARINA my thoughts are with you and DH.
After two nights of the 3 girls for tea and sleepovers I am shattered as usual. The youngest did end up stopping off yesterday but am hopeful she will be fit to go today. We managed to get the food shopping done yesterday as she somehow felt a lot better!! Calpol works wonders. The afternoon was spent making a miniature spring garden for a school project but will it get to school intact I am wondering!
Once they have been safely delivered to their respective schools just time to recover with a strong coffee and then off for my doctor's appointment. I just hope the dose increase has brought my BP down a bit. Then he can concentrate on curing the never ending uti's! The tablets he prescribed for the IC have worked wonders and I keep asking myself why the specialist couldn't have given me them in the first place?!
Needless to say the house looks like a bomb has dropped, as usual when they have stayed over for two consecutive nights. I'll get round to sorting it out sometime! Oh well, peace over, I had better go and rouse them all I suppose!
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where needed and wanted. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Birthday wishes to those with a birthday x
Still dark, looks cold and frosty.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was a bit disjointed, DH rang and was going to be really late, so boys and I ate early, then I sorted DH some food and met him before he went off to do the job, he had a breaded chicken portion in a roll and some chips. We had pasta and sauce. Tonight will be something easy and chips for the menfolk, or something else if I can find/decide what. I'll be having something and salad or jacket potato. Just realised that the med veg tart I was going to make for last night can now be part of tonight's dinner.
Was reasonably productive yesterday - got the dirty wash basket empty, although it has stuff in it again already. Everything that I washed that was then dried has been ironed and despatched to the relevant owner to put away. Housework done - targeted a few areas yesterday and am happy with the amount I got done. Our bed was stripped and remade, linen washed, dried and in the airing cupboard. Boys beds need doing today. I also made some bread - I haven't done that for ages and I used a packet of bread mix, I had it in the cupboard and it was going out of date so several weeks ago I bought another one, I then had 1 x white and 1 x wholemeal, so I used half of each to make the loaf yesterday - it didn't make a massive loaf but it was certainly edible, I just used the dough setting on the bread machine and did the rest by hand. I spent some time yesterday also going through the fridge/freezer/stocks to see what I have in so when I shopping I'm gradually using up stocks that have been there for ages and I'm not just buying new stuff. The store cupboard is quite full but the frozen meat/fish side is starting to look a bit scarce I had hoped that I could just buy my whole shop other than a few minor bits at MrA...i's but that isn't going to happen after the awful lamb roast we had last Sunday - having spoken to a few colleagues, 2 others said they'd bought fresh meat from there that had been tough and chewy and just generally not very nice - I'll be giving that a miss then! Today I'll be visiting the SM first thing, then cracking on with remaining washing, drying and ironing, really want to try to get some cooking/baking done, I'd forgotten how much better I feel when I've cooked/baked and I have stocks of lovely HM stuff that I know what's in it, it also helps so much with desserts and gives a wider choice. I have plenty to keep me busy today - need to as I could feel my mood dipping early on yesterday so just kept pottering along - I'll be doing the same today but hoping to spend some time this afternoon relaxing with some cooking/baking time. I've been reading about how some posters do a batch cook on a weekend, ready for the week ahead and then it makes the evenings easier - I don't get i from work particularly late so that's not so much of a problem but think it would be a good habit to get in to and also cook extra more often to utilize on another night.
Have good Fridays' everyone x
Keep safe and well x

So funny yesterday - well, it's funny now, it wasn't at the time! - Scampi was saying hello to a stranger, was a bit nervous but OK. A friend appeared on his pushbike, Scampi froze and stared but was OK when he realised who it was. Then a big van appeared round the corner with his headlights on (he's hated headlights for the past couple of weeks, it's his new thing *groan*), it was all too much at once and he got in a tizz and ran around me, wrapped my legs up with his lead and I went flying towards the stranger – luckily he caught meIt kicked off my sciatica nicely so I'm limping quite badly again. I said when we first decided to get a dog – walking a dog will either massively improve my leg, or kill it off forever. I think it's the latter

If I can loosen the muscles up we'll go out for a walk, if not it'll have to be ball games in the garden. My list of jobs is short for today, I'll take my time and potter about until they're done. Our bathroom is very small, it's not worth buying a mop for cleaning the floor so I just use an old towel. I won't be cleaning it today, I can get down on the floor but won't be able to get back up again

JackieO, enjoy your visit from Davey.

Morning everyone, happy birthday Gers and LaineyT! JackieO I hope you are having a great time with your brother.
It is my non working day so I am only doing one job, not doing it would result in a delay so am being flexible.
I am wondering why my family went to bed leaving their shoes right in the middle of the sitting room, in twit manner.
I might visit Ald* on the way back from work and for today, that's all my fascinating news.
Elona, happy moving!I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone.
Thanks for the good wishes and happy birthday to Lainey. I shall be mostly eating cake today.
Yesterday the funeral went really well. The crem was packed out and the civil celebrant was exceptionally good. It was very strange seeing a host of people I haven't seen for a few years and realising how we had all aged. Even the deceased was 68. The 30 odd years of friendship with a number of those present seems to have flown by incredibly quickly.
JackieO - have a fab time with your brother.
Dumpling - I am so pleased you're feeling brighter. Enjoy the moment, and the Chinese takeaway.
Elona - at last! I'm sure that the big move will be smooth, it's waiting for the paperwork to be signed which brings the most tension. Good luck with the move.
Tru - ouch! Hope you're better soon.
TA - the minds of medics are sometimes so different to us. I'm so pleased you're at least getting some relieve at last.
Right, I'm off to have a 'me' day.
Happy Friday everyone.0
