I really feel for you and you sound like an amazing patient husband. I think anxiety can be like debts, you have to have your light bulb moment.
Ultimately, if she isn't living too badly herself as she is, then there will be less incentive to do something about it, but it must be hard on you and the kids.
Thanks, I've known no real difference for 20+ years and are fine about it now, I've never been a social person myself, never felt the need for holidays, never really needed to go out much so I can live with it.
Main problem is the children, eldest is 16 now and is very much like her mother and very tolerant of her.
She has missed out on so much, but is so good about it and very sensible and balanced, she is a complete loner though, has no real friends, never goes out but is happy that way.
I also have a 11 year old who although is still a bit of a loner, is more social, would like to do more and is far less tolerant of his mother to the degree if we are not careful he will start resenting her.
In a way I almost see that as a good thing, if he holds his ground, insists on things and tries to be more "normal" by not giving in to her irrational ways I think it helps.
Thanks for the replies, I should have written things like this years ago.I really feel for you and you sound like an amazing patient husband.
Edit to add: I'm no saint, and blame myself for not helping more.
Sometimes I feel she is just crying out for help and more support, but I just don't know what to do and bury my head in the sand.0
