Quidco Insurance Cashback Scam

Just found out today that it's not worth using quidco anymore for cashback on insurance. Well certainly not with Tesco Bank Insurance. Did a quote through confused.com and then tried the same quote via quidco.
Confused.com price £202 (Cheapest quote Tesco Bank)
Tesco Bank price (via quidco) £252
Which equates to a £50 increase, which coincidentally is the amount of cashback available through quidco.
It's quite apparent that when Tesco detects the lead is from quidco it automatically adds the cashback to the policy value. Sneaky!!

Where's the scam? Just buy the cheaper the policy. All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0

rudekid48: The 'scam', as you seem to be a logically challenged person, is that Quidco claim to offer you £50 off but in fact don't because they have added £50 extra on to the quote behind the scenes.
Same thing happens with some holiday sites and prices too; always worth checking independently of the cashback site.0 -
Could there be a work around for this?...Click the referral link, but open another tab and purchase the cheaper policy on the Tesco website, then submit the cashback claim manually.... Quidco evidences that you clicked their link at XX time on XX date, Tesco sees you purchased a policy from them shortly after. I don't know if this would work but I've had it before where it's not automatically registered my purchase because I've had a couple of tabs open but it's been paid manually no problem.Save £12k in 2017 / Dec 2017 Travel Cash = £12,400 / £14,000 88.5%[/COLOR]

Hmm... So I'm logically challenged eh? Quidco do not claim to offer you "£50 off", they are a cash back site, so they offer you......... wait for it........ £50 cash back.
As a non logically challenged person, who did you think was going to pay for this?
In my mind, the only people who are "logically challenged" are those that cry "scam" where no such thing exists......All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
Quidco asks you to send screenshots in when this happens. It is against quidco rules for retailers to do this and they supposedly take action against those that do it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. I can only think that you haven't clear your cookies or something like that.
Last month I was looking for car insurance for my daughter. I searched the internet and found a quote for £198 on Tescobank , I then opened Quidco, cleared my cookies and did a new quote through Quidco. This was exactly the same price of £198.
In all the years I have been using Quidco and Topcashback earning over £5000 cash back I have never i higher price quoted on a cashback site and never had a rejected cash back claim.
Why do people always resort to words like "scam" when its usually down to their own ignorance/incompetence ?.0 -

Why should you have to 'clear cookies'? That proves it's a scam.0 -
You really are a cynical person. A scam is when you are being robbed or cheated out of what you have been promised. I have NEVER had any problems with cashback sites because I follow the advice they give, one of which is to clear your cookies.
Would I really become £5000 better off if they were a scam... T*****t. xx0 -
It is a bit of a scam. I've heard of this before (Hastings, I think it was) - , putting of the price of a quote, to cover the cashback they have to pay out i.e. you're no better off if you went direct.
Not heard of any other sector doing this. Its not the cashback sites fault - it's the car insurance industry that's cynical0
