Changing from Orange/EE to life mobile I have a. iPhone 5

I called orange/EE to ask for my pack number they could not match the £6 deal from life mobile, then I thought will the sim work, so I called the Apple shop who said the phone is locked he advised me to call orange back and ask them to unlock it I spoke to a lady again at orange she said there is a charge of £ 8.99 the charge is made by Apple would this be correct.

Just wonderering if she said that hoping I would say forget it I will stay with orange....

Even if your phone is locked to EE it shouldn't be a problem for Life as they are a virtual operator using EE's signal.

Spoke to Life mobile about this very issue 2 days ago as I'm looking at joining. They informed me that even though they use EE network an EE phone still does need to be unlocked.

I'd just try the sim in the phone anyway. They may just be hoping that you'll use their unlocking service, so I'd want first hand evidence first that the phone will actually need unlocking.

My phone is locked to orange i popped my daughters 02 sim in she has a iPhone nope no good I have paid the £8.99 to have it unlocked takes up to 10 days then I will swap over as I have got my pack number from orange.
I will save in the long run.
