I need structural support for a chimney stack in the loft, so I'm asking for calculations required for gallows bracket or steel support beam.

I'm unclear if drawings are required for this, but it looks like there quotes are including drawings.

they will have to visit the site, investigate the existing structure, do some drawings showing support/connection details - never going to be £100 quid!
If you've got three quotes around the same money then they are obviously seeing more work than you are!

Did you get that done in the end? How much did you pay and what work was involved ? I am still trying to find a structural engineer and figuring out the total cost including building control fees.
