Smart parking Ltd.

I've had a parking charge notice from this company through the post after parking in front of a store from 08.45-09.01 am. I sat in the car until 8.59, then was 2 mins inside the store. I did not have a ticket in the car for 2 mins.
From what I've read here I should be appealing this by writing the following:
Dear Sirs
Re: PCN No. ....................
I challenge this 'PCN' as keeper of the car and I will complain to the landowner about the matter if it is not cancelled.
I believe that the signs were not seen/are ambiguous and the terms unclear to drivers before they park. Further, I understand you do not own the car park and you have given me no information about your policy with the landowner
Etc...
Then again, I've read something else on here saying to ignore them.
I'm not sure what to do or what kind of fine this is. I've never had a parking fine before.
Is 'Smart parking ltd' a debt collector?
..and are they those type of company that I've read that try to get fines out of people when the person doesn't really have to pay?
Assuming the store manager will not want to know as there are signs all over the small car park about paying.
From what I've read here I should be appealing this by writing the following:

You have not seen anything on this site telling you to ignore since the law changed in 2012, unless it's by people who do not know what they are taking about.
It is not a fine, it is a speculative invoice.
You have the correct appeal template for notso-smartparking. They are a PPC, not a debt collector, but are easy to beat with a two stage appeal.
Do not pay, do not ignore, do not reveal who was driving. Simply copy and paste the template and send online, or if by post, first class from a Post Office. If the latter, make sure you get a free proof of posting. This is important.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Thanks. It was this post I saw saying to ignore. Although like I said, I'm unsure if it's the same thing.

I will send them the letter to appeal and see what happens.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
that post tells you to IGNORE the debt collectors, not the parking companies (you are not at the debt collector stage but if you are in england or wales you must not ignore this pcn - speculative invoice , which is from a private parking company)
the same person that wrote it also wrote that NEWBIES sticky thread, and your template letter too, please follow the advice in that NEWBIES sticky thread0 -
Thank you. Should I also try to approach the store manager as it says in the template letter, or would I be wasting my time?I Hate Jobsworths!!!0

almost all thread advocate a two forked approach
appeal to the PPC
AND
to the store / landlord/ land owner ........
which store was it ?
some are quite good at cancellations ...
good luck

As Redx has said, it tells you to ignore debt collectors, NOT to ignore a PCN.
The NEWBIES thread takes some reading and understanding so you have some homework to do before you can get your head round this parking scamdustry.
Yes, you should contact the Manager of Sports Direct telling him/her you will become an ex-customer if this isn't cancelled. You could even take the item back and ask for a return saying it has suddenly become too expensive with the PCN.
Show this to the manager when you go there.

You can certainly tell the CEO how these scammers will stop you and your friends ever shopping with them again

No chance with getting Sports Direct to do anything at all IMHO (not got the best customer service reputation) but give it a whirl!
And come back to this thread when Smart give you a POPLA code.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I've received a reply from these people today saying they have noted the points in my letter and have now cancelled the charge.
