Hi,
I wokeup this morning to see my bank account empty and seeing EE had taken almost £235 for my phone bill, I never normally go over but in this case it was my fault.
My concern is EE charges 40p (VAT included) for going over my minutes,These calls are listed without VAT in the bill.
So 40p - 20% VAT = 33p if I am not mistaken, But then in some cases they're charging me 34p per minute.
Take these calls for example (worked out at EE's 33p per minute minus VAT):
01:07:54 £22.67 0.33 x 68 (rounding 54 seconds to a minute) = £22.44 23p overcharge?
01:04:41 £21.67 0.33 x 65 (rounding 41 seconds to a minute) = £21.45 22p overcharge?
00:40:16 £13.67 0.33 x 41 (rounding 16 seconds to a minute) = £13.53 14p overcharge?
00:31:26 £10.67 0.33 x 32 (rounding 26 seconds to a minute) = £10.56 11p overcharge?
00:01:26 £0.67 0.33 x 2 (rounding 26 seconds to a minute) = £0.66 1p overcharge?
The only way I can work this out is if they're charging me part penny's, which would be £0.33.33 but the contract says nothing about this, It's listed as 33p per minute excluding VAT.
Can they do this? I've read the terms but nowhere does it list they're charging part penny's, Is this some sort of hidden scam?
My contract terms can be found here, ee.co.uk/content/dam/ee-help/Help-PDFs/Business-PDFs/EE-PAYM-24MTH-MONTHLY-TERMS.pdf (not allowed to post links as I am a new user.) I'm under "EE 24 month plans" the call cost is listed on page 5.
Any help would be appreciated.

In the ts & cs you linked to it actually says 40p per minute inc. VAT.
That is 33.3 recurring pence per minute net.
I could not find a net price in the document?
All seems above board to me.0 -
I just downloaded the paper/pdf bill you're correct it does show as 0.333 the web bill however is showing different information.
The paper bill says I made 478:14 outside of my limit, Yet the web version says I made 496:08
The website also says I made only 982.08 of calls within my allowance but the paper bill says I used my full 1000.
This is really confusing. They're not being clear on charges at all or minutes used.
Can't post links but screenshots:

If the VAT inclusive cost is 40p then the VAT exclusive cost will be 33.333p recurring as Mike White says.
I wonder if each call is rounded up to the nearest minute above - Orange used to do this and Asda on EE does this. eg a 3.5 minute call is charged as 4 minutes and so on.
This would then accumulate to a noticeable difference in calculations although I have not been able to find it in EE's terms and conditions. Some providers do this and others don't but it may be that EE do.0
