Yorkshire bank

So I was unsuccessful in my attempt to get the switching bonus from Clydesdale so thought I would open a Yorkshire bank one and switch to that as their T&Cs says you can be a member of either of them before to get the bonus.
I have just tried to open a Yorkshire account online and the form and process were pretty much identical to when I applied for Clydesdale. However I got to the end and they couldn't seem to verify my identity and I need to bring ID to my local branch.. I live in Scotland so there are none. Does this mean I can't open it and should move on? Lol Don't know whether it's worth phoning them up, as I assume they just use the same electronic system on the phone to open accounts? I have literally just moved and changed all my accounts to new address so don't know if that would be reason why? e.g. credit reports won't have new address on them yet? Never had any problem before with opening any accounts.

Clydesdale branches will be able to send the ID away, if needed.
Why couldn't you just open another Clydesdale account if you didn't get the incentive last time? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

So I could go into a clydesdale branch and give them the id?
I need to switch to them to get the incentive. My clydesdale account was my donor account.0 -

Just phoned them up and YB indeed said that I just need to go into a clydesdale bank and ask them to certify and scan my ID to YB and the account can proceed. Just hope I can switch my clydesdale to YB, but can't see in their T&Cs why not.0 -

I think it is highly unlikely you will get the £150 incentive if you switch your Clydesdale account to your new Yorkshire account. They are part of the same group. The terms are a bit loose on this but the underlined wording implies it must be a switch from another bank or society – such internal switches in the past have generally not been eligible.
Same applies for Halifax – you cannot switch in BoS accounts to get their incentive.

I did initially think it would be a bit iffy, but they do state as you've said above you can avail of the offer even if you are with Clydesdale? I dunno really, just hoping I guess? Lol0 -

I would assume from the wording you cannot switch your CB account to your YB account to qualify for the £150. Sorry!
You could of course open a donor account – RBS/Natwest have a very easy on line current account application process which would see your account open and active in a day or two (as do others), set up or add two direct debits (e.g. a Tesco internet and instant access saver – can be done in ten working days) and switch from that. You have until 31 March to get this sorted – so loads of time.0 -
I posted on another YB/CB thread you started/posted on that I too doubt it's possible to get it.
I wish you luck, but please come back and let us no whatever happens.0 -
Youz are probably right, damn lol
See the problem I have is that my DDs are already set up with CB account and it took absolutely ages for them to appear on my donor account before the switch to CB and that's one of the issues I had with getting the incentive. Im just thinking that if it needs active DDs to count then I won't be able to get this in time to switch, as it's gonna take at least a week I'd say for YB to go ahead with my account as they've try wait for CB to send them the ID.0 -

Do you have Tesco instant access/internet savings account - they can be opened and set up with DDs on a donor account. You can add and cancel DDs on any account multiple times - and do it all online.

Have you done any of the other switch offers.
You could switch your CB account to Halifax - they pay the £125 within 3 days - and then switch back to YB well in time for 31 March.0
