parking eye charge notice

Anybody ever been hit with a Parking Eye charge notice through the post. ??
I parked in a local hospital for 7 hours and they got a picture of my registration. It was myself as I was visiting an aunt who is really ill and completely went out of my mind about how long I should have parked the car. Friend of mine told me last night you only have 4 hours to park then you have to put in your registration number into a machine at the hospital. I didn,t know this at the time.
28 years driving and this is my one and only fine.
Shall I pay the £40.00 or try and appeal
any help would be great
Thankyou

It's not a fine, it's an invoice. Post your question on the parking subforum on the motoring board (after you read their stickie post) - will tell you everything you need to know.
Parking Eye - almost exclusively use ANPR, so I presume they got a picture of you arriving and leaving?
You can also contacts PALS (or the comms team) and see if they'll cancel the charge0 -
guest101 thankyou for speedy reply
Oh okay I didn,t know this. I was wondering last night how they got my name and address as I am not listed as the owner of the car. My husband is.
Yes they have a picture.
I am normally so careful with things but it was on the day we got told my aunt only have 4 - 5 weeks to live. Very emotional time for us all
I am thinking of putting in an appeal and go from there. Will I be hit with bailiffs at the door if i do this ??:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
What Guest101 says. The Parking Tickets sub forum of the Parking board is great for this sort of advice - they're real terriers!__________________________________

Oh okay I didn,t know this. I was wondering last night how they got my name and address as I am not listed as the owner of the car. My husband is. - Parking Eye will contact the DVLA. the DVLA do not list owners, they list registered keepers. But they could've got your details from a visitors log at the hospital (in theory)
Yes they have a picture.
I am normally so careful with things but it was on the day we got told my aunt only have 4 - 5 weeks to live. Very emotional time for us all - Don't worry too much. There's multiple options:
1. The hospital can cancel these (comms team or PALS)
2. You can win at POPLA
3. You can win in court
4. You can of course pay the £40 if it's easier, I wouldn't, but I can understand why some do
I am thinking of putting in an appeal and go from there. Will I be hit with bailiffs at the door if i do this ??
Not immediately.
Bailiffs can only act once there is a court order.
Your appeal will be turned down and you'll have to go thru POPLA
Hospital should be the first point of call.0 -

Shall i therefore call the hospital and get put through to the section you have suggested and go from there ??

Yes ask to speak to either the PALS service or the communications team.
If comms, explain you'll go to the local paper if they do not act. 9/10 it's cheaper to cancel the ticket then issue a press release....0 -
Out of curiosity - Why do you think you have the right to challenge and not pay it?
You entered a car park with terms and conditions, which regardless of the reasons you failed to comply with.
I would morally pay the fine and be glad it wasn't higher.0 -
