Do you have an EE Rook phone please?

If you were one of those that took advantage of the budget EE Rook phone last year, do you know how to disable Voicemail or is it Call Forwarding? Because I have a sim only deal, just noticed it is 35p to retrieve each of the messages that invariably amount to nothing.

Part of the way down the article reads "......
Turning voicemail diverts off
If you don't want to be charged for voicemails while you're abroad you can switch your voicemail diverts off by texting the words VM OFF to 150."
I believe this is not only when you go abroad, but also within the UK. Worth a try anyway.0 -

First of all, thanks for your swift reply. Whilst I obviously bought the Rook from EE and used one of their SIM only deals, I've just opted out and gone to Life Mobile. They charge 35p for answerphone/call forwarding (are they the same?) I've googled and discovered you have to ask your provider to disable these features so I have, and text those that are likely to leave messages and asked them not to. Often the message is "it's only me, I'll call back later".
I will follow your link and see if that helps. (didn't) .Tried 150 but that's orange/ee and clearly not for me as the line went dead.
Whilst googling, I found a thread which looked good, discovered it was MINE from 18 months ago when I wanted to stop voicemail on my old phone and succeeded, so if this ROOK won't allow, I might revert to old Samsung xcover GT-C3350
UPDATE
phoned life mobile and requested answerphone facility is disabled, they agreed, should be done in 20 mins. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I may be wrong but I suspect the 35p is only if you've exceeded your allowance. I have just started with a £6 Life Mobile sim and any voicemail calls so far have shown up as included in my allowance.0

Sorry, I was wrong, in a way. Life told me when I rang back, that the 35 p charge is only introduced if you have exceeded your limit of mins, otherwise it comes out of your allocated mins, so I have subsequently reintroduced the service. But whilst on, I have extended from 20 secs to 30 secs, the ringing time before the answere phone kicks in.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
