Ee text saying 1.3% increase - Can I get ouf contract now

I used to have Orange for over 10y not a problem and charges were very fair !
When it was taken over by EE my charges tripled and I was silly enough to upgrade last year with 24 mths contract argggh
So I am sure I wasn't told about a possible increase "in line with inflation "
Is there a chance I can cancel the contract if I find these t&c and there is no mentioning of a increase ?

Any experiences with cancelling contract with ee ?

If there is no mention in the T's and C's yes, but I believe it has been in the terms since 2014, so your new contract will be on those terms. In that case you'll need to see out the 24 months / buy yourself out early, but these days most operators are raising bills with inflation.

    No harm in asking though.
  • Not much point in changing providers as I think they all allow for an inflation increase each year.
However it's worth doing some bargaining with EE when your contract comes up for renewal. My son is with them and has renewed at a lower price that also included 4G services. Haggle like mad.

Vodafone are the only major operator that don't increase with inflation, however there are enough posts on here that people shouldn't be swayed by that.

Some are worse than others for their RPI increase, e.g. O2 Refresh only the airtime part goes up, rather than having a typical contract, all of which will go up. O2's terms the last time I checked said that there'll be an increase or a decrease, whereas 3 would just leave the bill unchanged in the event of negative RPI.

EE have had a notice at the bottom of pages on their shop pages for at least 2 or 3 years.
The monthly price shown will be adjusted every year in your March bill by the Retail Price Index announced in February that year

    For example at:

Unfortunately EE have had the above notice on their website since at least 23rd January 2014 (if not prior to that date).

As the increase isn't deemed as 'detrimental' you'd have to pay for the remaining month(s) on your airtime agreement.

I won't recommend Vodafone because of their sheer incompetence and (lack of) customer service but at the time of renewal ditch EE and look towards Tesco Mobile as they don't increase line rental using RPI.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.
  • Three doesn't apply RPI increases to its "sim only" contracts.
