Hi, Maybe just installing the usb drivers will work if all you want is to transfer files.

it says new drivers and software found. I clicked on run but still will not connect to pc, no phone tools appear.2008 winnings....:)

If you go into My Computer is the phone recognised as an extra drive like a usb memory stick. If so clicking on it should, I guess, reveal folders where you can drag and drop files into the phone.
If you want the tools software specifically to manage your contacts, messages etc I noticed the Motorola site is selling it for £12.99 but its currently out of stock. Looking on ebay you can get the cd alot cheaper. I would imagine there is some freeware available you could use.0
