New boiler quotes

I have been getting quotes for switching my back boiler to a combi - partly for future fuel prices, partly for house saleability and partly because I want a walk in shower in the bathroom where the hot water cylinder sites.

I have been quoted:

£2400, £2900, £3400 and £4200.

I am a bit confused about the discrepancy for what should be a straightforward job for a heating installer.

Actually the cheapest quote came from the most professional seeming company. The £3400 came from a friend of a friend who knew of the £2400 quote and was amazed that anyone could do it that cheaply.

If something seems to good to be true it generally is so whilst I would like to go with the cheapest, it just seems quite a long way off the others.

Anyone any thoughts on this?

Are the quotes like for like?

    * same make/model of boiler? Is the boiler the right size?
    * include/exclude flu? New piping? Powerflush?
    * Do they all include Building Regs sign-off or GasSafe/Oftec certification?
    * any new rads? rad stats? other accessories?

No point looking just at prices, you need to look at what you're getting too!
