    No, we'll just blame OJ.

One of the submissions actually blames the OJ trial for the lack of media coverage on state pension equalisation!

The WASPI and their media and MP pals can go on and on about the "injustice" they apparently suffered.

The matter was raised again only on April 14 again in parliament.

    Government is very clear:
Transitional arrangements were made in 2011 and
the Government have no plans to review them
    .

Meanwhile, judging by the pictures on her website, a very vocal WASPI supporter has had reason to celebrate. It is not known what the occasion was but if ever there was a good reason why this WASPI women should be paid her pension money before she reached their SP, this must be it. She needs that champagne bill to be paid.

Nobody would possibly want to disagree that the woman looks desperate and should really have been in receipt of her state pension by now - have a heart for the women who gave this country its next generation (insert moans about breast feeding / nappies / MMM vaccines etc).

Also, the NI the women have paid must surely stretch to pay for the champagne by now?

The submission from the woman in ESP0138 includes this gem:

"1995 when the Pension Age had changed, our personal life unravelled, I had no time to scour editorials and financial papers to look for changes to the Pension law. The OJ Simpson Trial took over the world press if I remember rightly."

The individual states that she received notification of the change as a result of requesting a state pension forecast in 1995 and that it was an absolute shock to receive a letter in January 2012 stating that her retirement date was November 2020 (though the letter cannot have said that because DWP doesn't know retirement ages in advance, just state pension ages). OJ was the least of the things happening to her in 1995 but she still managed to ask for a state pension forecast and get personal notification of the pending change.

She proceeds to assert that it is offensive and untrue to say that benefits are available to those in financial difficulties because she asked her local Job Centre and they informed her that she qualified for nothing. Which is somewhat unsurprising given her husband's income and apparent level of household savings, meaning she is not actually in financial difficulties as normally meant in this discussion, nor remotely close to it.

Submission ESP0128 was apparently actually made as an email to the Rt Hon Frank Field MP, the Chair of the Commons Work and Pensions Committee, asking him to "keep fighting for us!"

Also interesting were the giggles on mention of WASPI during the hearing on intergenerational fairness at 09:36 after mention that those born in the 1950s would overall receive between 116% and 118% of what they pay into the system. Intergenerational fairness of course being one of the things that WASPI is seeking to reduce.

This latter point in the submission is particularly interesting as it indicates that women who asked for a forecast in 1995 were advised about the likely change before it was finally enacted.

And the same patronising rubbish about our generation only having low paid, part time work because we were all up to our armpits in child and elder care throughout our lives!

Notably the claim of £100bn being in the NI fund has now been replaced with "so it is clear there is money in the pot".

The WASPI campaign is certainly showing that it hasn't a clue how NI is run.
