drop curb
Several years ago I had a drop curb installed for access to access parking on my property this was done by my local council at considerable expense too myself ..admittedly until it has only been used occasionally mainly weekends and evenings as i have just the one car which is garaged elsewhere at night, I have not been to bothered if my neighbors parked for dropping off etc ..However we are now getting a second car and will need to access the drive , we informed the neighbor of this and kindly asked him to leave the gates clear so we could have access ..My Neighbor is now creating up merry hell and said that he will park where he likes and has started parking over the gates even when there are obvious parking spaces elsewhere this forces me to park half way down the road , not fair considering he is blocking a rightful access to my property ,,,his excuse it is to far to walk and he will get cold ..the thing is I require just 1 parking space ,,,his household has 5 vehicles to accommodate ...why should this be at MY expense ..so what can I do ????

Unfortunately the law is (IMO) rather rubbish in regard to this.
If you are parked on your drive and he blocks you in, then that is illegal and the police can tow him away, although getting them to do that is another matter!

Keep your own car parked across your drive entrance when ever you can. Sounds like you are about to get the neighbour from hell. Hope you get it sorted.0

Got any friends in heavy haulage?
A few nights of large trucks parked in "his" spacees can make these chancers much more amenable!0 -

It depends where you live. Our local council will tow away any vehicle over a dropped kerb whether it is blocking a car in or not. All the resident has to do is to call up and report. A neighbour of mine got fed up with someone from further up the road blocking her drive. Said person ignored polite requests so neighbour reported it and it was towed to pound. Apparently the persons face was a picture when they found their car gone.
Problem solved for neighbour and a nice little earner for council.0 -

Wish I lived where you lived.
Mine wouldn't do anything even when half my drive was blocked and the gap was so narrow that It was within mm the same width as my car if measured diagonally from fence post to neighbours car, which it wasn't possible to get our car at that angle due to the other fence post and car length.
According to the police and council we could of got our car out!Zebras rock0 -

A London Borough by any chance?0 -
Highway Code rule 243. Enforcing it depends on the attitude of local agencies.0

wait till he goes out then park your car across your drive-unfrtunaly some councils just dont careor havent got the time to tow carsWhat goes around-comes around0

You can apply to council to have a white line painted with ends (looks like a long I), I believe it makes it more enforceable if your neighbour parks there
Just checked, it isn't enforceable even with the line

It is an offence to block a driveway whether you want to get on or off your drive. The space to kept free is debatable depending on the drivers ability to drive. Getting anyone to enforce the offence is another matter.0
