Help choosing a mobile
Hi my mum is wanting a new mobile phone as she currently has my old iphone 3s, which is extremely outdated. She just uses pay as you go at the moment as £10 easily lasts her a month or more.
She wants a contract as can't afford a new phone out right. She doesn't want to pay above £15 a month but still wants a decent phone. I don't think that it's possible especially since she needs something easy as she isn't great with technology.
Trying to get away from Iphones as not keen on them anymore.
What she really wants in a phone is;
Easy to use
Decent Camera
Easy access to Internet and Apps (especially facebook)
I would say she more bothered about internet data then texts or minutes due to using it mainly to browse facebook.
I don't have a clue about phones any more or what's good or not so just asking for someone with a bit more of a clue for help.
I'd say anything that was on par or better than an Iphone 4 is what we looking at. Can be any phone or network as well.
Thanks x

Can she really not afford £80?
For an advice on sim-only contract or PAYG deal post more specific information on usage rather than "more bothered about internet data then texts or minutes".0 -
Thanks the Microsoft 640 seems a really good option. Just seen on talktalk its free for 6 months on contract but doesn't give clear idea of what price it is after 6 months. Going to contact tomorrow. They also do an offer for 7.50 a month with 500mb of internet but you pay £20 or something like that upfront. We are with talktalk for internet so going to contact them and see what they offer. It probably be worth just buying it out right as you say. Thanks for replying x0

Its not just the monthly price its the full contract price you need to think of.
If £10 lasts more than a month do they want a contract? I moved to Life mobile with a £6 deal 1500 minutes, unl texts and 1GB data. 1 month contract only.
I would prefer an Android phone over the MS Lumia one though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Those MS phones are rather easy to use, tend to have a reasonable camera and are cheap. I'd say a slow MS phone is less annoying than a slow android phone.
BUT - the selection of apps is less. There's a limitation on what internet browsers you can use. Their 'front screens' are a quite limited.0 -
I think the Microsoft a good option. My mother in law gave my mum her old Samsung S4 and we had nothing but trouble and samsung couldn't fix it in the end. I was just calculating that if you divided the cost of buying it outright which is £80 by 23 = 3.333333..... and then plus £5 a month it equals to 8.30 a month in total with credit.
Seen a deal with TalkTalk for £7.00 a month with free handset and 500 minutes, 5000 texts and 1GB of data a month. Its £10 before cash back but I think that's reasonable. I think she would use her phone more anyway as she doesn't use her iphone that much as it always crashes due to its age. She only wants Facebook and Whatsapp really which are on most app stores anyway.
I just tried to ring talktalk to ask about 6 months free but it was so busy gave up.0
