Matched Betting is my next goal ~ once I have exhausted most *bingo* options with Qidco and TCB (as me and as miserable bollox) I will be digging out my *numbers* head in the hope I can make some sense of it.

One lovery MSE'r <you know who you are ;) > has promised to hold my hand through the first steps but I hope to be seeing $$ in time for crimble ;)

with matched betting you just need to keep reading it took me months (aprrox 3) and if it wasnt for a certain angel i would deff have given up by now but i have made some not bad money at it ....it is worth it but only if you can take your time and remember read the board
  • Thanks mrsspendalot, I will try your suggestions!

My current monthly expenditure is this:

    £700 - Rent
    £120 Childcare
    £90 Council Tax
    £200-250 Groceries
    £50 Gas (with arrears)
    £35 Water
    £22.50 Electricity
    £100 Petrol
    £45 Car Insurance
    £30 Credit Card
    £40 Mobile Phone
    £70 Loan secured on Car
    £20 Next Catalogue balance
£60 TV, landline, Internet (need this to work from home now & then)
£240 (all old debts bundled together)

I've recently lowered my mobile tariff because I wasn't using all the minutes (it's a really good O2 deal) so I would like to get rid of the landline phone, but Virgin Media seem to think I will pay less by taking all three services together (which I have always thought is a bit of a rip-off).

Fortunately, I should be back in full debt-repayment swing after Christmas when the mythical pay rise I have been promised appears......the last one got wiped out by the obligatory decrease in tax credits and the fact that I cam eout the the student loan deferment bracket. Sometimes I think I was better off on a lower wage with more benefits!:(

first thing that strikes me is food ~ I spend this on a family of 4 so you should be able to greatly reduce this.

check with the compare sites that you are paying the lowest you can for untilies and ins ~ if your not, go through cash back sites to switch.

are you in receipt of the 25% single persons discount for council tax?

what package is your £60 telly bundle? we pay £65pcm for ALL tv channels in 2 seperate rooms, free weekend and evening calls and fastest broadband through Sky (if you switch Quidco are doing £85 cash back to go with Sky)

mobile still seems high ~ is PAYG an option?

finally ~ what are your incomings?

Hi Sethsmum. I work full time but also do Ann Summers parties on evenings. I've done three parties this week and made just over 200.00 GBP (sorry no pound sign!) which for a total of about ten hours is pretty good going. It is commission based so if you don't sell you don't make but the selling side you don't really have to do much as the ladies have a good idea of what they are going to buy anyway. Its a social night for me too as I can't afford to go out x

  • I do brand-downsize, and the food bill includes stuff like school packed lunches, toiletries, cleaning stuff, etc.

I recently switched to British Gas for my Gas and Electric, because a price comparison website said t was the best dela, paperless billing and all that, but I'm not convinced so will look again.

I do get the council tax discount, is council tax the biggest rip-off ever or what? I live on quite an eclectic street, its's a mix of young professionals, older homeowners and even a council hostel, but what galls me is that I could never afford to buy the house I live in, and yet the council tax is based on the property value (sorry, rant over!):rotfl:

The TV bundle is for all channels (but only in one room), free evening and weekend calls and 1MB broadband. Unfortunately I can't switch to Sky as my landlord won't let me put the dish up.

I did used to have PAYG, but it was costing a lot more than the pay monthly. I get 800 minutes, 100 texts and free long weekends, so I very rarely go over my inclusive minutes.

Going back to the food, I cook from scratch most nights and my biggest cost always seems to be fresh meat/fish. Anybody have any recommendations on where to get the best deals? my boyfriend is very much a meat-eater (no offence to all the veggies out there!)
