Why would you stop charging your son rent? That decision is unrelated to the benefits your wife recieves. Surely without him you'd have 2 spare rooms?

Does your wife need a room for equipment or an overnight carer?
  • hi

the rent he pays goes to the housing association

    not to us

    thank you

his portion of the rent should stop because there is no non dependant deduction when the tenant/tenants partner receives any rate of PIP care.
the bedroom tax will still apply unless you can prove you need the extra room for an overnight carer or bulky equipment
