Cut and stuff with chopped walnuts, drizzle with honey and grill

Cut and eat with slices of Parma Ham (if you shop in Lidl the cheaper option is the Spanish version, called Serrano)

If you are vegetarian substitute the ham with a nice chunk of Pecorino (hard sheep cheese) or if no pecorino available use good mature cheddar.

    Buon appetito!

    Hi all,

Popped over to the wholesalers to get some fruit and veg. (I recommend everyone finds their local one)

Only problem is I bought a huge tray of figs and I can only eat so many of them.

Any good recipes or ideas for using them up?

I bought some fig mustard in Italy that was utterly gorgeous - this looks like it might be a similar recipe:

  • You can stew them for puddings, bottle them or make jam. How about as a starter with Parma ham or an equivalent? I reckon I could eat my way through a tray of figs in a week by just having them with Greek yoghurt fro breakfast. Yummy!

    Hi

I have a fig tree and we usually end up with a surplus in summer. I love them with greek yoghurt and honey, they also go well in a salad and with cheese or are great added to homemade bread.

    This thread has more ideas:

    fresh figs

I'll add your thread to it later to keep the suggestions together.

Delicious on fresh crusty bread, with some (preferably goats) mellow cheese, then the fig, then a drizzle of honey......one of the best low stress lunches possible.....tastes of summer.

Baked with honey or Marsala, or poached and bottled in brandy or rum - scrummy with vanilla ice cream or mascarpone
