Why am I still having to pay for a phone line that I dont use?

£17 sounds an awful lot for line rental - my ISP (aaisp) charges £10 for the physical copper line which seems reasonable if the wholesale cost is £8 (ie 25% markup vs 113% markup!)

Openreach will never provide Virgin landlines. Virgin owns and operates it's own cable network. This isn't going to change. even if BT and Openreach are split from each other..
