  • Morning ((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

Its not raining so have the bed linen in the washer, fingers crossed it dries outside, If its fine I wash, the forecasts are so unreliable these days.

Monday clean to do, will remake the bed first and allow the dust to settle, bathroom and toilet floors both need mopping they have not been done for a couple of weeks.

After the cleaning, we need to do a freezer audit and I need to sort out the menu plan for next month see what I have in stock and what I need. Did not buy meat last month we still had plenty in the freezers.

Drs in the morning see if he can sort out whats going on. Someone suggested yesterday that the tiredness could be a result of Nick's death in December. What concerns me more is my loss of breath if I walk anywhere. I am ok if I walk fairly slow, but speeding up its another story!! We will see.

Hester, I am so pleased your daughter found a new property and is moving in today. Serves that landlord right, he has now got to find new tenants, I hope the agency charge him a double fee.

OH has a cardiology appointment this week. He has not had a dizzy for ages, did have palps when he had his cold but nothing since. We will see what they say. We are then going on to see my quilting friend for a cuppa and a natter.

Yesterday was so awful that I didn't do anything productive,

    Sorry to hear that.

Hubby has been on his best behavior all weekend. He even bought me some flowers. What he doesnt seem to realize is that one weekend in many doesnt make up for the grumpiness, the moaning, the criticism, the feeling that i am walking on egg shells the rest of the weekends he is at home.:(

Need to get some soya milk whilst i am out. I decided to do without a couple of weeks ago and the hot sweats are consuming me.

Vacuumed upstairs. Thats one less job for me to do when i'm back home.

  • Good Morning everyone another Monday morning already Where does the time fly to I wonder. Is it me, or has time speeded up as I have got older :);)
Very damp and wet 'n' windy at the moment ,really not a nice day at all and my joints are creaking like a rusty old gate I am due to go on my 'healthy living' Monday morning walk today.I shall see how I feel in an hour :)I might do the 'short walk' this morning which is a half hour one for a change I don't like to miss it as there are always some really nice folk to have a natter to,plus you get a hot cup of coffee and a biscuit at the end back in the library and I have some books to go back today.

NSD to do and just have to dig some bangers out of the freezer for tonight's dinner

DGS Mikey (11) has joined a boxing club and is really getting into the training.

My late OH was a boxer when young and its such good excercise and teaches good discipline for young boys . I know a lot of people disagree about boxing but from the training point of view its really more about the excercise than being aggressive.

My husband would only ever use his hands in a ring, and as he was a real gentle giant and quite a softie at heart he enjoyed it as a sport and not as a means to wallop anyone in sight :) really.

In fact anyone who was aggressive at his club was usually turned out and the boys were taught to treat each opponent with respect. He trained lots of lads years ago in his spare time, and I think he would be pleased that one of his grandsons had taken an interest.

Mikey's big brother Ben has his Granddads other interests, as he plays a guitar and loves fishing .So his hobbies are coming out in the boys.

I have two granddaughters, but nothing I do as a hobby interests either of them :):):) although my DGS Henry and Jack both like history as do I.

Right, well enough chatting, time for a hot coffee and then decide whether I'm going walking or just staying at home ,probably the former as I don't like to miss a walk if I can help it
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing

    Hi everyone,

Csarina, I think you're wise to see the dr asap.

Hester, I've been following the saga of your DD, what a mess, but they are probably well out of it, I can imagine they might have been hassled by the LL if they'd moved in.

We had a lovely day yesterday, we went to see DD because it's her birthday on Tuesday and can I just say that I am gobsmacked that I have a 33 year old daughter, it seems impossible. We went out for lunch with her SIL, DS and fiancee and then had cake (I made her a curly whirly cake, which came out really well).

Poor DS' fiancee is suffering at the moment, she is a tax lawyer and is under so much pressure at work that she's finding it difficult to cope. DS, bless him, has been in the same position and has told her that if she wants to quit to just do so. She loves her job though and doesn't want to it's just that so many people have left the work she is given is piling up. I must admit, although I am sympathetic to the junior doctors I look at the four young people in my family who all regularly work 60-80 hour weeks usually including work at weekends and think that this is the way of the world now. Someone posted a rota for a junior doctor complaining they were guaranteed not to work two weekends in a row but this rota did. But they then had at least two days off following the weekend - I had thought they were complaining that they had to work 7 day weeks. Sorry, rant over, I'll get me coat as LW says.

    Have a good day.

Woke up to a phone call saying the removal company had to give my place on Friday to someone who was able to confirm. I completely understand why and once we do get the go ahead hope I can still use them.

Going to wake youngest and offer her a breakfast before suggesting we go on a shopping trip. I am getting fed up feeling almost scared to leave the house in case I miss a phone call etc.

The pork and lamb joints went well yesterday and I gave dds some containers of that and some home made healthy meals to take back with them. Youngest especially liked the evening meal which was peppered pork with veg stock, soy sauce, rosemary and mixed peppers and courgette with rice. I decided not to tell her that the pork was two YS pork chops for £1.69 ;)

Nice day so I am going to hang the washing outside in a few minutes.

    Csarina

    Morning all,

Hester - I,m glad DD got something sorted so quickly - as other,s have said, it was probably meant to be and for the best in the long run - hope the other bloke gets all he deserves ;)
Elona - house buying/selling is such a faff, enjoy your retail therapy and the rest will fall into place X
Judi - glad grumpy made an effort, DH and I have had a few niggly arguments recently which isn,t like us - we had it out yesterday afternoon, not in a shouty way, but essentially I,m feeling more like his mother than his wife due to his heavy, constant work life, and he feels nagged and like he can,t do right for wrong - I said I,d be more supportive, and he,s agreed to cut back a bit at work - fingers crossed we,ll be the happy couple we usually are again.

Due to inter marital negotiations and the subsequent making up ;) we ended up with a takeaway last night, so will have the planned gammon roast today.

Start of a weeks leave for me, time to hit the ironing pile - how rock n roll is that LOL

    Take care all X

Back from visiting Mom and i'm frustrated if anything.

Mom was a little more alert than yesterday but still sleepy. She looks dehydrated to me though the carers tell me she is eating and drinking well. I mentioned the incident of the straw yesterday to the manager and she said "she can drink without the straw". Well ive never seen her and if she can drink without a straw, why do they give her one?

My brothers girlfriend is making waves again and has complained about the changes ive made. Mothers care is between myself, my brother and the Care manager. I do wish she would sod off!

Sod everything! Hubby says i'm getting too involved. Its hard not to when its your own Mother!

  • Judi Just popped in for a quick read though and noticed your update .
You know your mum better than anyone . Follow your instincts and keep doing the right thing . Family can cause such aggro just when it isn't appropriate and is hurtful , and actually dangerous when it interferes with the care of those unable to care for themselves . Have a hug , I really hope you can get some time to rest . Chin up .

  • Grrrr just lost a long post. So here is a quick recap:

DH's birthday today and I have made him a cake.

Hospital has changed my spinal consultant to the top man, they have moved the orthopaedic dept out of the main hospital to a ridiculous location that is really awkward to get to without transport and the appointment time was 3.30pm. I explained that I couldn't get there without my husband and that he cannot get me there at that time because he starts work. They have changed it to 1.30pm and it is now in May!
Luckily DH's head teacher is very good and as long as it ges into the diary that he might be a little late she is fine with him taking me to hospital appointments and I have an awful lot of them!

Judi, keep pushing for the best care for your Mum, it has nothing to do with SIL!

csarina please go and see your GP about the breathlessness xx

Dumpling phone your diabetic nurse today! High sugar readings should always be reported and as you are having other symptoms tell her that as well.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Well I didn't put the rugs on to wash as I remembered that the back garden is north facing and will only get the sun for about an hour in these winter months. Such a shame, but I will do them on Wednesday and put them on the airers before heading to Glasgow for a few days. The front of the house is bathed in lovely light and bright sunshine though it's not too warm.

I went into town to post my parcel and pick up some baking powder. I left my car about half a mile away from the supermarket and walked there and back, stopping to chat to the post office owner. It was a very pleasant walk as where I left my car is on the loch front, the sun sparkling on the water was just lovely and I could see down to Arran.

This morning I sorted out a huge pile of papers most of which now need to be burnt. I scan everything official these days and dispose of the originals as they just become clutter.

I'm at the early stages of planning a visit to Gillingham as I want to look into my father's army service. A couple of years ago I got a copy of his service record but it's very sparse and lacks any real detail about war theatres he was involved in. He was in the Royal Engineers which formed part of the Second Army during the Normandy Landings. I think he also took part in Operation Marketgarden and spent time in the Netherlands during the floods. There are many photos of him in the Middle East too which are intriguing.

The RE museum have given me a list of researchers who would do the work for me so I'm debating what to do. I think they would find the information much faster than me initially and I could go down later to follow it up. Decisions!

We used to live in Gillingham when I was a young child and I believe I attended my first primary school there - we didn't stay long so it's all lost in the midst of time.

    No more wittering!
