A family friend met her ex partner on Facebook. They were dating for a few months then he went to New York for work, it was going to be about a 1 month trip.
While he was there he contacted my friend and asked her if she could purchase his lottery ticket from his online account (apparently you have to be in uk to buy a ticket) she agreed and he gave her his login details and she bought a ticket.
She then wondered if this was the same password to his Facebook account. She tried it and it was. She saw a trail of conversations he was having with someone else and she worked out that he was actually in New York because his girlfriend there was giving birth to their baby and she (my friend) and the baby's mother must not know about each other! She was furious so she forwarded these conversations to the baby's mother and all her family. Within 15 minutes he had deleted his account.0 -
When I was travelling in Australia and staying in hostels, I met a man from India who had been catfished. He had quit his job in India, fallen out with his family, and left everything behind to come to Australia to be with 'the love of his life' he met online... only to turn up at her door and find she was totally different and already had a husband and kids and wanted nothing to do with him.0

Some of MSE probably fall into this category :rotfl: I am online friends with a number of people I have met from here, and others I have met through premmie & special needs discussion groups. All of them could be 51yo Eric from Walsall. I wouldn't know :rotfl::heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
MSE: many of the benefits of a helpful family, without disadvantages like having to compete for the tv remote

One of my closest friends I met via MSE and when we first arranged to meet in person 7 years ago, her family were very worried about it and convinced I was 51 yr old Eric from Walsall, in a nice big mac
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Yes.
I was talking to a guy online and he said he worked on an oil rig near Iraq.
A few days later he said he could see pirates coming ........
I take it you didn't know that all the Iraqi oilwells are on dry land. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
Once, on let's call it a 'social application'. I think he actually thought I wouldn't realise that he wasn't the guy in his pictures and would carry on regardless. Strange man and actually quite good looking, but still, very, very weird.0

Handed the log to my wife who went mad. But carried on the affair anyway.

It amazes me how anyone can have a longterm 'online' relationship with anybody without meeting them or, at the very least, seeing them via video chat.0

Does using pitures that are like 20 years old count?
I have been on dates with women who look little like their posted pictures.0
