Libre Office. How to download for free

On a recommendation I was going to download the Libre Office pack. however it asked for a voluntary donation but I certainly do wish to divulge any personal details. How can I bypass the voluntary donation and download the program for free.

I just went to the libra office download page and the download started automatically even though you are presented with a donate option.

If it doesnt start automatically there is a link at the top of the page

  • I tried downloading Libre Office but a message has come up it is blocked by A smart screen filter. Could someone advise what it is and can i temporarily remove to install Libre Office and then put back on again. Would it be safe.

Strange. The "Smart Screen Filter" is part of Internet Explorer and is designed to prevent you from connecting to malicious sites.

If you're using the official LibreOffice download page, then I can only imagine that you have some malware installed on your PC which makes IE connect to a malicious domain even when you try to access an otherwise "safe" website.

I would not try to bypass the Smart Screen Filter, but try to fix the problem that is causing it to activate. I'd definitely recommend installing the following programs and scanning for malware. If you can't download them (due to the Smart Screen Filter activating), you may have to try downloading them on another PC and copying them via USB flash memory sticks.

    MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware: https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/thankyou/

N.B. This is free software, although they try to get you to upgrade by giving you a trial of the premium product. Personally, I'd decline the offer for the trial and stick with the free version.

You aren't the only one with error 2503. See here:

I was trying to download Libre Office and it sopped saying unable to complete due to error code 2503. What is the code and how do I rectify it so I can download Libre office. Will it effect other downloads?

So I wonder if something is broken at the LibreOffice end?
  • Try it the easy way: go to ninite.com, check the box for Libre Office, hit 'Get Installer' and let it do its thing.

You could also try Snapfiles or Major Geeks.

That's very liberal minded of you but not perhaps the most advisable course of action on the WWW :)
  • Have you tried Open Office rather than Libre Office? They're exceptionally similar I believe - http://www.openoffice.org/download/

The OP is installing LibreOffice because they currently use OpenOffice but are having problems with it.

OP - go to portableapps.com - hopefully IE will let you install that. It's allow you to get no-install versions of various open source (free) software, so they don't mess with your Windows installation.

Included in the list of possible apps are OpenOffice and LibreOffice. It's worth also getting a browser that isn't as rubbish as IE - there are portable versions of Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Maxthon in there too

I just tried the same, and it's downloaded for me too, from Internet Explorer.

Not sure why it hasn't worked for the OP but it may be worth trying again...
