Advice - Argos - Baby Furniture - not as described

Hi. I would like some advice please, what can I do?

About a year ago I purchased the Curve Nursery Furniture set from Argos for a lot of money. It was fine an never had any problems until recently when we turned it into a toddler bed. The bed is full of holes where the screws were for the original cot design, if you look at Argos' image the item is portrayed with no holes at all - obviously a photo shopped image). Also the under bed storage drawer no longer fits under the bed, meaning I have lost a large storage area and have a huge drawer I now have to find somewhere to store. I have contacted Argos, who say that due to the length of the time I have had the product they are not willing to do anything. But, to be fair it wasn't a problem till I turned it into a toddler bed, How many other parents checked out the toddler bed upon purchase, I can't imagine anyone, but I may be wrong. What can I do to get Argos to sort my problem out. Any ideas? I'm very disappointed with the bed, it now looks

It is a cot, that has adjustable heights, that can be lowered over time. At two years, it can be adjusted to become an infant bed.

One assumes you kept the instruction for these conversion.

BoP assumes the child is safe!

Is your toddler bothered about the holes ? Surely when you put the bedding on you can't see them ? I'm sure B & Q sell plastic hole covers. Although i wouldn't recommend using these as they may be a choking hazard.

OP welcome to MSE. I know it will not be what you want to read, but I doubt that argos will do anything. The bed is fit for purpose to be used as a toddler bed, despite the holes. The photo on the website shows two holes in the headboard area and the drawer is described as "The under cot drawer is set on castors to slide out easily from under the cot when needed". It does not state it can be used under the toddler bed.

After a year you really you have no complaint.

On another note did you think the holes would magically disappear?

You can however buy plugs to cover the holes.

There's one slight discrepancy you might want to take up with them, with regards to the cot bed drawer.

If you look at Documents 3 & 4 on the web page there are two types of drawer, with different heights - one is 18cm referred to as the "undercot drawer of cot bed", the other 21.5cm referred simply as "undercot drawer, white". It seems you may have got this one but the product description on the main page suggests you should have the smaller 18cm size.

Edit: On further inspection there are 2 entries for an undercot drawer in the main product description, does this mean you have 2 drawers?
  • If I remember correctly, when we concerted ours some of the original bolts went through the holes to block them.

Most cots to toddler beds have the same issue. The holes you need to make it into a cot with side bars are not required for a toddler bed.

Holes in pretty much anything can be solved with either wood filler (for lightweights) or milliput (hardcore!). This may be simplest solution

Adding anything to a piece of child or baby equipment isn't advisable for safety reasons.whether it be filler, covers, or extra bolts, in case the child takes them out and chokes on them.

Op if you don't like the look of the cot bed , sell it and buy another.
