Bought Used Car from Dealer - 30 Day Warranty?

PDI = Pre Delivery Inspection. Mostly, it's a new car thing - when the car comes off the transporter, and is cleaned/prepped/plates attached before delivery - that's the PDI.
No, there's no legal requirement for one to be carried out at all, let alone a putative buyer be shown some kind of sheet.
hi
whilst it is not a legal requirement all motor traders who carry out due diligence now carry one out on every car they have for sale
they will also put a brand new mot on a car to show at pos it was fully road legal too
this is what we as dealers use in our defense if challenged by trading standards or indeed have to go to the small claims court to defend our position as we can prove by doing a pdi and going through it that something like parking assist bleepers were working at pos and thus failed at a later date as a wear and tear item and thus would not be covered by the new consumer regulations but possibly by an extended warranty
the pile of money spent on it to get a valid mot after deposit left further proves dealer did NOT do any kind of appraisal pre offering it for sale and further strengthens your case when you take him to court0 -
to summarise
get the car back confirm clutch and pedal working to satisfaction or reject the car straight away, the clock on your months rejection is on hold by the way whilst they still have your car
one point to mention is it takes usually 9 months before you get up before the small claims judge and you cant use the car in the meantime
is this dealer limited are they established if not and where will you look for recompense if they fail you
the three r's are
repair
replace
refund
so lets see what step one brings0 -
Many thanks for your advice. I know where I stand now on the issues with the car.
I was supposed to get the car 22/2/16 after these issues were completed but after phoning them yesterday I was told that it would be 24/2/16 before their garage could even fit the car in to start the work on the clutch.
I asked if my 30 day warranty is going to be extended by the length of time that they have had the car back for repair and I was told that it wouldn't. This means that from 18/2/16 till I get the car back, I am without the car during the warranty period.
Should I be entitled to get these days extended on the 30 day warranty as it is in their possession?
Thanks0 -

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you 30 days to reject the car for a full refund if the thing does not conform to contract. Many thanks for your advice. I know where I stand now on the issues with the car.

It is that 30 day clock that stops while they have the car.
As a warranty is in addition to your statutory rights, they can include restrictive terms.
You need to read your warranty documentation to see what the terms of that are.0 -

this would be classified as restricting your rights and as such as i have already said this customer allowed the retailer a fix of the clutch pedal,if this repair does not work then he has every right to reject the whole product under the 30 day rule as not fit for purpose
can we please all forget this warranty0
