Wallpaper sold at the wrong price

Had something similar last weekend in the B & M shop in Redditch.
Daughter picked up some Skullcandy headphones marked at £7.99 but they went through the till at £12.99
The supervisor was called and we all went back to look on the shelf. There was only one ticket with a price for Skullcandy headphones which said £7.99. The supervisor did point out that the one my daughter picked up was not the 7.99 set as the code was different. The supervisor could not find the 7.99 set of headphones, they were not on display, just two different colours of the more expensive ones.
After a bit of tooing and growing, we got the difference refunded.
Your problem will be that you left the store and it is likely the roll was moved to the wrong section. If there was other rolls of the same wallpaper correctly displayed and priced, I can't see them giving a refund.0 -
Does nobody pay attention anymore when they pay for things at the till?0

I agree - if I bought 1 x roll @ £1.00 per roll, I would expect to hand over a pound. If I was asked for more then I would question why. I agree though that if there were other items in the same purchase it might go through unnoticed although a difference of £11.00 should be pretty obvious.
Maybe I'm a miser - I do a rough top-up in my mind as I shop so I know roughly what to expect to pay at the till and I check properly later.0 -
The £1 bucket has the problem that some random punter picks up premium paper, then on way to roll sees one they like for a quid, so dump the one they picked up as opposed to return it to its place. Probably one to put down to bad luck and checking before opening next time, alas.0

Can't really blame the shop here (assuming a customer placed it there, which isn't at all unlikely)
First you didn't notice your shop was £10 more than it should have been, and secondly you didn't check your receipt before opening the roll. If it's fully opened its completely unsaleable now.0 -
Yeah, see this all the time. One customer will be carrying a full price item (probably intending to buy it) then spots a bargain elsewhere. Instead of putting the full price item back in it's rightful place (as if), they then dump the full price item in the bargain bin. Another customer then views the Bargain bin and not only assumes the full price item is discounted but then expects it to be that price at the till.
This is the first time I've heard of anyone leaving the store and then demanding the discounted price. £11.99 is a pretty steep increase from £1. Why didn't the OP notice the increased total prior to paying, I wonder.
Customer will probably get a goodwill gesture from the shop, but does not appear to be entitled to anything.0 -
I've always just taken for granted that the price it says on the ticket is the price I will pay at the till. If I was just buying the wallpaper I would've noticed that instantly, but going shopping without a list on a £100 shop I didn't notice. The thing that made me suspicious that it was the shops fault as I had a look at all the premium paper in the shop and couldn't find one to match the roll I thought was £1. In future I will certainly pay closer attention to my bill before paying and leaving the shop!
Another thing that annoyed me throughout the shop was that a lot of the wallpaper was unpackaged on the shelf, and the roll I had purchased was half opened too.0 -

Don't shop in ASDA then!! I have yet to manage a shopping trip where I have not been over charged for something!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Clearly, this is the fault of your fellow customers. Staff can't re-wrap the wallpaper as it is shrink-wrapped at the factory.Another thing that annoyed me throughout the shop was that a lot of the wallpaper was unpackaged on the shelf, and the roll I had purchased was half opened too.
Personally, I wouldn't be buying wallpaper from B&M at all….(I know I'm a snob
