First Direct current account

Options
Hello all,
I'm hoping to take full advantage of the first direct £150 switching service as well as their 6% regular saver however I'm wondering if the £1000 pay in can be met between accounts?
I'm paid £800 and something depending on the amount of weekdays so if i pay into my halifax account(qualifying for the £5) into the first direct account(800/1000) then back into the halifax account to another basic account and back into the first direct account would this work?
Thanks

  • Yes all this works. Lots of us make transfers between different accounts to meet the T&C of each one. You can simply transfer it away even on the same day. I tend to do the next day and a slightly different amount mainly as I leave a small amount for DD etc.

I'd be very surprised if the FD account required a single payment in excess of £1,000. After all, that would exclude anyone paid weekly...unless they had a >£75K gross income.

    Would you agree?

If you do, then your plan will work. If you don't, then why would you think they'd only want customers who were paid monthly/4-weekly?
  • thank you
I thought so, just wanted to confirm as it varies bank to bank.
Now just to get another basic bank account, can anyone advise me on the easiest to obtain?
Or are they all easy to get accepted for if you don't ask for an overdraft?
    thanks again

No bank demands a salary. Further, no bank demands a single payment (for meeting funding requirements for Rewards, interest, or switching incentives, etc).

So I'm not sure why you think it "varies from bank to bank"?

Why don't you just save the hassle and go for the HSBC Bank Account £120 offer instead? £500 minimum monthly deposit. (If you don't already have HSBC accounts or had one or more in the last 6 months)

Lots of choice... Natwest, Nationwide. Lloyds Group (Halifax/Lloyds/BoS) easiest online for me, sometimes instant if credit /ID check okay.

The regular saver is higher at FD £300 max versus £250 at HSBC and of course it also has that £250 free overdraft. :D

    Lots of choice
    ...but totally unnecessary! :)

Just make both deposits (totalling £1K) from Halifax.

OP, you've only to credit at least £1K (in total) once, and that's to generate the incentive payment. There is no need to make £1K deposits each month going forward (if you read and understand the T&Cs).

T&Cs varies bank to bank and £1000 needs to deposited each month for 6months to avoid the £10 cost of the account and already applied for the HCBC account for the £120 incentive :)
And didn't know i could do it twice from the same account to meet the requirement?
    EDIT
And been approved. it's going through as i speak

No it doesn't (as I've already told you above). To see why, read page 6 of your T&Cs.
