Vodaphone scandal!

Options
Hello,

I recently signed up to Vodaphone unfortunately and in the first month I went to America. I had two phones at this point so ensured that all my data was turned off on my Vodaphone contract. I did use wifi on the phone but that was it. The only reason I bought the phone with me was for the camera quality.

Anyhow, I came back to a whopping bill stating i'd used data. I tried to create a login on their system which was apparently successful but every time i request access there seems to be a problem login in. I now can't check my bill and everytime I talk to an agent (after waiting a disgusting 30minutes) I get hold my bill will be emailed too me.

I thought maybe i'm wrong about the bill but now my partner has been abroad several times for her job as an air hostess but always turns her roaming and all settings off but now has also been landed with several high bills.

This seems to be a common problem, is there anything which can be done?

Thank you.

If it was camera and wifi only you should have taken your SIM out.
    As simple as that.

And no, it's not a common problem.

What phone is it? What does the data counter say?

If your mobile data was turned off, how would Vodafone even know you were out of the UK?

Either vodafone are fabricating usage, and it's complete coincidence they've done so for a period of time that you just happened to be abroad, or your mobile data was actually turned on.

Because of the other roaming services?
Even with data switched off they know that you are abroad as soon as you switch the phone on (or switch airplane mode off) - and even if you don't make/receive calls or send/receive texts.
