EXtra Energy (Any Good Opinions?)
Saw the collective deal advertised in The Sun Newspaper & Extra Energy came out the Cheapest....however looking at the reviews I simply havn't seen one good one as yet so was wondering has anyone heard any good things about this company or should I avoid like the plague & switch to another company?
It forecast I'd save about £236 if I switched to them from my EDF Blue Price + July 2016 tariff.
Many Thanks - Avenue

Well over 2500 replies since 2014 and still active - nearly all negative to say the least.
Overall verdict: Cheap but very nasty.0 -
Use them for single rate electric only when you use another fuel for heating. This reduces their ability to completely mess up your billing and DD. Never dual fuel. If you read the thread you will find these are the people who have had few problems with EE.0

Thank you....think i'll avoid these & perhaps go with Ovo.

Yes, there is indeed something rather odd going on there.
The first 10% of respondents initially gave a positive feedback of 80%
Then, when it became obvious EE were taking lots of customers off other suppliers due to their low prices (they've done the same in Germany), then there were masses of brand new users sign up to MSE and now with over 2500 replies they have a 80% negative feedback.
But looking at say EHL, EE still have 4 stars which is more than Scottish Power, nPower, Eon or SSE have (although Ebico which is served by SSE somehow does have 4 stars)
4 stars puts them on a par with EDF & BG.
I can only assume EE have put a lot of noses out of place with a lot of employees at the Big 6 who are now fearing the competition from EE.0 -
I had massive problems with both Scottish Power and Co-operative Energy and would happily have paid a little more to get a decent supplier. Extra Energy, by all accounts, are even worse.
There'll be another supplier who'll give you a good saving. Maybe not quite as much as Extra Energy but is it really worth the hassle?0 -

I can assure you that I have not, and never have had, any association with ANY energy company whatsoever!!
I believe my experience of EE to be fairly typical. My initial impression was positive.
I switched to them in early 2014 and was initially very happy. After 6 months of giving them monthly readings I had not had a bill. Then they increased my Direct Debit to an amount that would have left me with a large credit after 12 months with them but they wouldn't reduce it.
They have a very basic website with promises of new features being developed but none materialised despite the fact that the IT required is simple.
I began to get worried. No money for IT development? I thought they might go bust owing me a lot of money so I jumped ship expecting to pay the exit fees. The switch to E.On went smoothly and I was soon enjoying E.On's rather good service.
However I was £200+ in credit with EE. They said it would be paid 6 weeks after the switch but it wasn't. In short after many hours spent on phone calls and emails and a complaint to the Ombudsman I did get my money plus a £70 "goodwill" payment but I'd had to wait well over 5 months.
So this explains the initial positive feedback. My guess is that opinions would have changed sometime later.0 -
I foolishly signed up ExtraEnergy after seeing them beat other suppliers on price for electricity. I then read the feedback in the forum and sent in a cancellation within the cooling off period.
I then had six months of frustration - starting off with a refusal to acknowledge that I'd cancelled, having my supply switched and then writing many emails, letters to executives, calls to their call centre - eventually I had to switch back to another supplier. I never paid them anything but my time - which would have been well spend on something else.
I came to the conclusion that they are the most incompetent organisation that I have ever dealt with, compounded by a deliberate policy of not relying to correspondence and having a call centre whose sole purpose is to fob you off to get you off the line.
The high point for me was when my letter to the MD apparently, according to the call centre, meant my complaint was being handled by "an executive" so they couldn't talk to me about it. Did I get any response from any executive - of course not!!
My advice is run a mile!0 -
Extra Energy? Ahhhhh!
Take my strong advice. Do not use these bunch of scamming a***holes!0 -
I was with EE, all was well until i needed to contact their customer services. What a nightmare. I t would take about 20 minutes to actually get through, everytime I spoke to someone, I was given reassurances, promises etc. As soon as the phone was put down, they simply forgot me and my problem. They even lied to me more than once.
When i evetually left them, it took many months to get my credit back. This was only achieved thanks to the ombudsman.
Don't touch them with a bargepole. They ae truly disgraceful0
