Good afternoon everyone,
Well its cold, grey, windy and raining here, so I've stayed put today, although will be giving DD a lift to work in a moment.
DS has had 3 friends stay for a couple of days, yesterday I disappeared for most of the day to avoid being in the way, but they have now gone home. DS will be off out to see his GF and DD is working, DH will be home from work shortly, so a nice cosy evening in as we both have colds and are not feeling great at the moment.
I have some turkey soup defrosting for our dinner tonight, we had some a few weeks back and it was much nicer than I had expected:rotfl:
LW good news for your husband, make the most of your retirement, as you don't know what will happen in the future.
HH I do hope your DD finds somewhere much better to rent as the LL sounds very dubious.
Judi, hope its good news for your dog.
Have a good evening everyone, and stay warm and dry x.SPC 11 #4450 -
Evening all,
It has been a hectic week here.....4 of the grandchildren have birthdays in February, so we have a party for them all.....they have all gone now, DD1 back to Cork wit h her niece DGD2, and DD2 just drove out the gate with her two little girls, to Dublin airport to return the car, then to Stanstedwith Swineair, and on to N London by train and taxi.....will be close to midnight when they arrive home, but the girls are used to it as they have been over and back several times a year since they were born, the 8 year old is on cloud9 as she got the first Communion dress she wanted........tulle skirt rivalling the dresses we wore in the 60s!
LW....I am sure that retirement will be a wonderful phase of your lives together......I took early retirement on illness grounds in 2007 and have never regretted it....we were both very surprised at how much less we lived on and we could please ourselves as to how we spent our time.
Hester....I am really mad on your daughter's behalf, which is not much help to her I know but cant believe that it is possible for that !!!!!! to get away with such abuse, hopefully she will get her money back, know nothing of rules and laws in respect of renting.... hopefully something better will turn up.
Been to visit my neighbour whose husband died last week, she is ok, but is having so much advice thrown at her that she is going mad.....one inlaw is so worried about her immortal soul that she insists on taking her to church and then for lunch.....she just wants to be left alone to come to term with her life as it will be now, in her own way. I just go over for acuppa now then, otherwise she knows that she just has to call me at any time of the day or not.
Only noise here now is rugby on tv....nice, but I will miss the noise from the grandchildren.
Stay safe everybody.

DD and son in law came over to sort out some stuff and stayed for a bite to eat before going to York. They will pick up youngest dd and will all be staying overnight.
I had a massive cooking session and made a large cottage pie, a huge fish pie and a pork with peppers and noodles dish as well. I now have eight individual portions of food to freeze for DDs.

Definitely go and get things checked if only for peace of mind.
Hester
I am so indignant for your DD. May the landlord get exactly what he deserves.
DD has a birthday next weekend when I might be moving so ordered a few presents to arrive in the next few days so at least I have something for her.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Evening all,
No results have come back to the vet regarding 'Ginges' tissue samples. Still she has had her wounds checked and she is fighting fit. Whats remarkable is that the wound just below her anus is almost healed. I thought it would get infected or something being where it was. They are leaving the stitches in her side a bit longer. The vet i saw said they like to err on caution where wounds on the side are concerned as they can easily be opened by an itch that has to be scratched. The plan is to take them out over 2 weekly appointments... alternative stitches.
We met a 5 month old miniature Pincher whilst we were there. I still cant get over how tiny she was. Ginge was scared of her but Blackun' wanted to Mother her.
She should be fighting fit for Easter on the beach so i am told.:)
